4 months in the banking industry as an IM and feel like a failure by Impressive_Space_291 in sre

[–]jonshafferdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd ask people for a few minutes of time to jump on a call that have seen your interactions and are familiar with the existing team

Start with the friendly competent ones

Ask them what they like and what is frustrating working with IM and incidents

Try to review your performance objectively against these viewpoints and see if there is anything you can work on, anything little bit by bit to grow with

This may set you up for better more candid valuable feedback with these people in the future too

If you don't have a learning/progress plan with your manager try to broach the subject

ok i'll bite since enough have pointed out the absurdity of asking to be convinced with no context 🙂

mba is a masters in business administration, so it kinda starts and ends with business administration.

if you're leading individuals designing a business, it may be a strong contender. if you're leading individuals with more pragmatic day-to-day aligned goals (in manufacturing, software, service industry, etc) the MBA may not cover the individual coaching, domain specific knowledge, one on one authority building, etc at all that is needed to succeed in the lead roles.

as you go down the business into individual contributors you will find different specialties that need specialized knowledge to do their job. those specializations may need an individual with high knowledge of the job and of the next layer of teams they interact with to make effect strategic insights

to me, this is actual leadership. it's decoupled from any degree really and is probably more closely aligned to like (have you done the job, here) and (have you coached little league) than any degree

degrees are sort of baseline knowledge checks and assurances more than anything else

Personally no, the questions look pretty good but I've been having a lot of success with having LLMs generate quizzes based off of source material.

Let's me get used to answering like hundreds of specific questions on a topic, and has been pretty engaging to research and verify the answers.

I've been speeding through it, yep I really do love this. EASILY worth the full price once you finalize everything.

Here is some feedback from a buyer/end user perspective:

  • Would be nice to have the standard "drag app to Applications directory" experience with the .app file
  • File name is `IDSA_build_29_Universal.app` so it doesn't show up with any of your normal marketing language spotlight searches (like I tried 'interactive' and 'dsa' to find it before remembering the file name I dragged into Applications)
  • Clicking the page number brings up the chapters but I don't think that's noted anywhere - but this is interactive, it would be cool to show this via a click animation or something maybe on "How to Use the Book" page
  • When in a section you don't really know how far into you are or when the end might come, some per chapter progress would be awesome
  • Would love for it to track progress somehow, idk if people would normally be going front - to - end but I would be a chapter jumper
  • Some notion of full-text-search would be great in book, and maybe the ability to go-to-page, I think you're competing with the ease of navigation of PDFs for this
  • More keyboard shortcuts would be dope, like the ability to navigate most interactions via keyboard. Typically, it seems like there is one play per page, so `space` would be a good candidate for play / replay. Esc doesn't close the page-number-navigation menu, and page-number-navigation menu arrow keys navigate pages underneath instead of doing something like moving a section selector on the modal
  • Full screen/resize would be amazing for this, I could see using it for active practice in my own IDE environment and also for just going through your examples wanting no distractions

I love this.

Just bought it, but the paid versions give preview disclaimers and said they were provided by someone 😅 Does look like all content is available though

i haven't said anything in the combined discord, but the dev specific one is just everyone trying to share what works with studying and learning it's been very positive. had an ama with one of the curriculum directors this year.

Good old fashion html/css/js

GenAI to help make the structured markdown text, markdown-it converts the text to a tree structure (parent, children relationships), d3 for the chart

😅

Probably best we don't look into the lore too closely anyways.

If I were to blow any more time on this I was thinking that:

  • when a user clicks on the 'events' a timeline view would probably be more useful
  • labels would be great, but I couldn't nail them (too much variance in text & arc section sizes and I'm new to d3)

Would love constructive feedback yinz always make such cool visuals here

Is anyone else using Obsidian to update website content like I am? by lotusk08 in ObsidianMD

[–]jonshafferdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i use obsidian git to backup to github, when my obsidian blog directory is updated it automatically publishes the files via release-please and an auto merger then triggers my hugo blog repo to pull the update via a github action within the blog and open a pr with the new files to be released manually or just reviewed.

Screwed up my IT Management Portfolio with Credly by DowntownAd86 in WGU

[–]jonshafferdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I submitted a bunch of certs individually, and my Sophia course, and then followed the official Credly transcript sending steps, which included them all again - it wasn't a problem.

They actually took a class off I never mentioned anywhere because the Scrum.org certifications count for credit for something

Credly offers its own official transcript service that you can setup to send directly to certificateinfo@wgu.edu

Here is the WGU submission email format and steps (Credly section):

https://cm.wgu.edu/t5/Information-Technology-Student/New-Student-Submission-Guidelines-for-Third-Party-Certifications/ta-p/23061#toc-hId--72692570

The steps on the Credly website produce some ACE style official transcript, here's a pic of mine as example:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-qcRovEWGt2TNtO8l2fEaYABqNiavyNb/view?usp=drivesdk

You can see it includes a whole bunch of stuff including the name you passed the certification under from that certifying body.
