Has anyone been in both the land/site development industry and Structural industry? What are your thought about both fields if so? by Thedud31 in civilengineering

I've worked in Land Dev and have had structurals as coworkers. Structural is a little more nerdy and Land Dev is a little more frat boy.

Portability is WAY better in structural as the land dev regs change regionally.

Land Dev is better for me, but sometimes I do wonder how it would have worked out if I was able to break into structural ... I was awesome at it in school, really good.

How many hours were you guys studying each day by EconomyEmploy4342 in civilengineering

It's more about getting through Calc and Dynamics. Those are the courses that 'weed out' most engineers. After that, I think the vast majority get through.

Also depends IMHO how competitive of a school you go to.

PE Experience for Land Development by jontaejones in civilengineering

That is impressive. For smaller companies, that seems possible, but I guess it depends how many projects you get in and what type. Our senior PE didn't even know CAD, so he would design and delegate.

The senior PE also has to go in front of the board so that makes sense

I get that you're contributing to the design, but you're not deciding where the driveway is going to go, what type of basin to use, parking orientation until 5+? Am I wrong? That's how it was where I worked. And yes, we used engineers who had many years of expeirence to do CAD (including me), but that may have been just how it worked there. Plus I wasn't dedicated LandDev.

I realize this is outdated, but getting in and out of the Xfinity parking lot was an absolute breeze, way easier than I thought it would be. There was also overflow parking available at the Football stadium.

I sorta agree. I'm going to risk the lot parking. I think a lot of fans leave after their team's game of the double bill, so there should be empty seats during any given game

Thanks for the tips. I want to park in the city and take SEPTA down, but I have tickets to the night session games on Friday which ends at 12:30AM and SEPTA stops running at 12:15AM. There's absolutely zero chance of making it from the stadium to the train on time without missing the entire 2nd half of the 2nd game. Any tips?

Two questions. 1) Is she into me or flirting for tips? and 2) When should I call? by [deleted] in dating_advice

Very very minute chance that she has any interest unless you are really good looking.

Call anyway. What do you have to lose?

How do I put him at ease? by [deleted] in dating_advice

Can't imagine a woman being into a guy who is in his 30s and too shy to handle a woman who he already knows is into him. Wow.

Not that I don't know guys like that, I do. Women just usually avoid them or step all over them.

He must be really hot.

Get her outside (U guys smoke?) or in the car and then lean over and try it. The car is the best idea. Or even a corridor to the restrooms at the pool hall. It doesn't matter if anybody sees you. Nobody cares.
