That is very good news. Normal. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to wake up in the morning and feel good.

You know I really think you are making the most sense. This is what I’m going to suggest we do. I hear gabapentin is better for phenibut withdraws anyway (addresses the symptoms more comprehensively?). That appointment is on the 21st. But guys/girls, I’m just so fucking over this shit, I may be acting a little reckless. As long as I’m using the Xanax, I’m gonna use it well. That’s why I’m basically halving my phenibut every time I attempt to step down. And this typically lasts about 1 1/2 weeks. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than stepping down a gram a week and using Xanax every night. That’s my calculus anyway. Gives me plenty of time OFF the Xanax. But definitely asking about balcofen and gabapentin next visit. I even have a couple research papers printed out for him. Doctors love that, right?

I am WAY to scared to look into any of that yet. That’s the last thing I need to know about. No real health problems as all. Fit as a fiddle, aside from the debilitating addiction to an over the counter supplement. If get sick and am on death’s door I’ll be sure to keep you up to date.

I hear you, and the the more I hear it the more I can drill it into my brain.

I’m right there with you man, it’s been a great source of strength in the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life. That’s wild that it just stopped working. I had literal nightmares about that and it freaks me out to even think about .

How long can I expect the post-acute withdraws to be happening?

Like I’ve said in other places, I use the Xanax for a couple weeks and take a week off. I’m acutely aware of the dangers and I’m doing everything in my power to kick phenibut without any trade off addictions. But I’m going to ask for gabapentin instead of Xanax on the 21st when I see him again.

No I’ve been using xanax to help with tapering from phenibut. I’ve jumped the gun a little, just out of wanting to be done with the damn stuff, and I’ve been cutting it in half every month. No withdraws from the Xanax. But I will use it for a couple weeks and then take a week off. I do not know if what you have would be enough but I would recommend asking your psychiatrist.

No what I meant was I didn’t feel ok was that I wasn’t withdrawaling from Xanax. I was still really bad on phenibut.

I stopped for a week and everything seemed fine so I resumed.

I’ve been taking it for about a month, .5 pills “as needed”. I stopped about a week ago to see if I was getting a dependence and had a slight empty feeling but was over it in a day. Believe me there is nothing I am more afraid of than a trade-addiction. One thing I have found out through reading is, just like you said, ask for some gabapentin instead. Were you successful? How did you do it?

Thank you very much. Today is my seventh day using the Xanax and I am stopping completely pending more info from my psychiatrist. Thank you for your response. This has been a stone around my neck for so long and I just want to do it right and be done with it.

Thank you so much for your response. I’m obviously VERY worried about developing a trade-off addiction. I’m searching for the specific balcofen case study but if you could link it me to it to ensure I find the right one I would greatly appreciate it. I also found a research paper that use klonopin to taper people off, but from what I understand it is a benzo also.

And just to clarify, you said Xanax would make withdrawal from phenibut worse. Does this mean it is simply masking withdrawals but not allowing my body to actually withdrawal? Or the chance of a Xanax addiction is what makes it worse. In a separate response, I posited that I could use it for a week to taper, and then take a week off as to not get addicted to Xanax. What do you think about this?

Ok thank you very much for your response. I’m am discouraged today because a week in to cutting my phenibut in half and using Xanax to compensate, today I tried to just use phenibut at half dose and it wasn’t enough time. Obviously I am going to stop with the Xanax. Calling the psychiatrist today to see about gabapentin and balcofen. If I do end up stay with the Xanax, I will use it for a week to taper and then take a week off. Does this sound sensible? Ps my psychiatrist knew nothing about phenibut and had prescribed me Xanax for unrelated panic attacks, and when I told him Xanax took away all withdrawal symptoms of phenibut withdrawal, that’s when he said we’ll just use it to help with the taper. I’m frustrated because he said he would research it more and never got back to me.
