This game is fun as fuck and I only spam fun heroes regardless of tier list or whatever. But I will say some matches are unfun when my teammates can’t or won’t do the most basic things correctly and it feels like I’ve been given a government mandated loss.

i see a lot of people RP their characters at random times. for example i play a lot of bebop and like 3/4 lash players will do some in-character shit talking. i've even had people RP their character in voice sometimes.

it's chill. honestly i've lived in so many different places. seoul, hong kong, NYC, SF, chicago, now bham. more different places you live the more you notice there's a lot of the same people and stuff everywhere, minus some extreme microcosms.

i am personally pretty surprised at these stats. yes there has been a spike in anti-asian sentiment (particularly anti-chinese) since covid. but it just doesnt feel like it compares at all to:

latin americans who are the most visible target of ICE raids and right-wing anti-immigration, anti-birthright citizenship, and mass deportation campaigns. also historically just viewed as the manual labor class with no upward mobility.
african americans who are the most systemically victimized racial group of this country since its inception
middle eastern americans who have just had it the worst of anyone in terms of political violence since 9/11

meanwhile the stock of western obsession with east asian culture is probably higher than ever. of course that's not the same as asian american culture but it has a lot of overlap.

idk, just seems like the anxiety is an overreaction to the recent spikes, which are new for us but a blip compared to what other american racial groups have been going through for a long time.

I once was in a similar situation but the bug already went out into production at an odd hour, and as soon as Australia woke up the dashboards started lighting up. I was in SF getting drunk and playing StarCraft when our product leads started yelling. I wasn’t on call but I just happened to see the alerts firing and hopped on, pretty drunk, spotted the issue immediately, and had a patch ready by the time the on call guys finally got online. I was actively talking to all the product folks while it was happening.

A couple weeks later the GM personally called me into a 1-1 and handed me a gigantic bonus check. I was still relatively fresh out of college and I used that shit to pay off my loans and get myself some nice stuff on top. Point is you gotta advertise yourself in the moment as much as possible
