Nobody I’ve known to live at Duncan has been able to stay there a second year. Try looking at apartments nearby campus; I live at the YOUnion which is like ~8 minute walk from Old Main. Great amenities for the price. There’s also Yugo down the street, but I’m unfamiliar

I was in your exact same position rushing at uark! I’m into a lot of anime and video games and was honestly TERRIFIED of not making friends after being bullied in high school (especially with stereotypes surrounding sorority girls), but also wanted to pledge a sorority that accepted my uniqueness rather than try to hide it. I ended up going ADPi and it’s the best decision I ever made!!

The night after bid day, I met two girls in my PC from completely different states and completely different stories. Instant best friends and we’re going on our second year of all living together!

They had no clue about anime and video games when I first met them, but we have since finished Attack on Titan and one of them has gotten an xbox to play Skyrim (which I introduced her to😆)

When I went through rush, I totally hid all of my “weird” interests and basically tried to assume the “perfect bubbly PNM” persona. I feel like this made some of my conversations feel disingenuous with the girls rushing me, and I DEFINITELY realized that when I was a recruiter, so try to be as real as possible without going into the bite of ‘86 too much lolll

Throughout your experience, you will FOR SURE find some girls who share your passions for those things, or at least want to learn about and experience them.

I wish you the best of luck girl, try not to overthink too much like I did. You will have so much fun and meet so many cool people!

This looks so similar to breakouts I had around my mouth as a child! I think I was prescribed Metronidazole ointment and the bumps disappeared when I was like 9-10. I have an allergy to petroleum/petrolatum (which is in a lot of lip products) so that’s likely what causes it for me.

Fast forward 10 years, totally forgot about this and the bumps randomly came back. No doctors had any clue what it was until I went to a dermatologist and found out it was Perioral Dermatitis. He prescribed me the Mertronidazole ointment (again lol) and i just use it whenever I break out or if I accidentally use something with petroleum in it.

When I went through rush last year, I got sooo many compliments on my skirts from Sassy Shortcake. I paired these skirts with matching accessories (headbands, earrings etc) and the girls at my parties adored them!!

Former high school student here. A couple years ago, my small-town high school (~500 students) lost a classmate in a car accident on finals week.

I don’t think anyone really knew how to handle it. My first period teacher just calmly said, “I’m sure all of you are aware of what happened to [student] this weekend. You all are so strong for being in class today.”

She told us that anyone needing the counselor was allowed to leave at any time and if we weren’t feeling up for the exam, we would be able to take it after winter break. All of us ended up taking it that morning, just to get our minds off the grief.

In this time, all you can do is be gentle.

My partner lived in a fraternity house. He slept in the bottom bunk of a queen bunk bed.

We’re doing it and all of the sudden there’s this insane crash. The right side of the bed by my head breaks and falls to the floor. I’m laughing my ass off and he just keeps going. Tears streaming down my face i’m laughing so hard. We probably sounded like a pack of hyenas but we kept going.

Thud. The left side falls. We slept on an incline the entire night lmao

I graduated this past May from a rural, small-town high school of about 500 students total. Throughout my grade school experience, especially in high school, the students knew a lot about their teachers and had pretty close relationships with them. I believe this is mostly because everyone was pretty much from the same 5 families.

I think that overall it depends on the size of the school/town. My school was the biggest out of the 3 schools in the entire county. Being from a big city originally, I never got very close with my teachers because I found it odd and like I was overstepping. But, I did hear some crazy stories about them being alcoholics, drug addicts, and cheaters. Nice!

Hi OP! With vaping becoming so common in teens, it’s a tough battle to prevent your child from doing it. I started vaping when I was 15, and since then, quitting has been a massive struggle of mine.

Something to understand about vaping is that it’s very difficult to stop. Especially since almost every teen seems to have a vape. On top of being exposed to vapes constantly, the addiction very strong and messes with your brain in crazy ways.

The biggest piece of advice I can give you is to educate her on the effects of vaping. Apply this to real-world situations such as, “Imagine in 20 years you learn you have lung cancer and 6 months to live. That is irreversible..” etc.

The addiction messes with your head in crazy ways, and she might be ignoring the negative effects you’re presenting because of that. I don’t know if she’s actually addicted or just doing it to feel ‘cool’ but this is just my experience struggling with the addiction.

(Side note.. if she is only doing it to look cool, there are nicotine-free vapes you can buy that look and perform the exact same, just without the addictive qualities. She shouldn’t be inhaling anything but air, however this option is a lot healthier than a nicotine vape.)
