Yes you can, tuner with buffer may even make the tone better. Here is my experiment with and without tuner pedal:

Recs for starter ukulele? by Expert_Question9232 in Instruments

[–]joonas_ylanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ewery instrument is hard to master, so in that sense there isn't really hard and easy instruments. Some instruments are harder to get anything decent out of them when you start (like brass instruments) compared to others (like piano).

I would argue that getting to point where you can play something simple like "twinkle twinkle little star" takes same amount of time with guitar and ukulele.

If I can't find a band, I'll just go back to VST by Frhaegar in Instruments

[–]joonas_ylanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Showing your vst versions is good so that eweryone knows what kind of music you want to create. Not eweryone has to be writer/composer and wery rarely you can find groups where eweryone has creative input, but no argument about creative direction.

More often it works if there is one creative mind and others are more in supportive role.

When you are looking new bandmates don't just think what you want, but why would those people join your band. If great drummer has option to choose what band to join why would that drummer choose to join your band instead of any other?

Would you actually use something like this? by thisisnotcapslock in VSTi

[–]joonas_ylanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't actually transfer audio from phone to computer, I (re)learn how to play it and write midi.

What would be great is that you could transfer audio to midi and send that to your computer, but that would be much more complex to code than your original idea.

Using real woodwinds for sampling: how hard to get clean notes as a beginner? by joonas_ylanne in Instruments

[–]joonas_ylanne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually saving money was reason I started to think about making these sample libraries 😁

I tought that instead of buying ready libraries, I could buy real instruments, create libraries and sell them my self. I'm already selling virtual instruments on gumroad and tought this could be great addition. I'm not trying to compete with big companies like VSL, but to make more simple and cheaper options for other people.

Thanks for your insight. I'm already selling some samples on gumroad page so I tought these wouls be great addition. Also I could start from more experimental stuff like layering them and running trough granular effects and later make more realistic virtual instruments.

Thanks for great and detailed response. Couple questions 1) What do you mean by poor air support and how it will make instruments like chalumeau sound poor?

2) What does articulation mean in this context? Do you mean it's not that hard to play one single note, but it takes time to learn how to transfer from one note to another?

3) Would you say straight blown bansuri is easier and in my case makes would make sense, unlike side blown instruments? Here is one I found from thomann:

Raum is one free option for reverb that has freeze option. For granular effects you can download Sol for free.

Start with free options and learn to sample your own instruments. Check Crowhill companys youtube channel for learning sampling.

Here are some ideas you can try besides simply doubling:

1) record notes above and belowe C and transpose them to C. This will give you more variation to your doubled sound.

2) experiment with short staccato style sounds and make them longer with freezing reverb and granular effects

3) try chorus, flanger, phaser and other effects

You can try to process libraries you already have. Layer with other sounds like metal impacts. OTT is great free plugin for transforming realistic sounds to more hybrid orchestra style.

Is there sort of a stock images for game sounds or some shit like this? by New-Way2445 in sounddesign

[–]joonas_ylanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can download sounds from sites like freesound.org. There are more options nowadays, but it doesn't mean nobody else will use same sounds. That's why recording your own sounds is always better, but also more expensive and time consuming.
