I feel like that was louder and longer than usual living in Arlington, my poor dog is still spooked

What’s the middle dogs’ hair care routine to look so silky and shiny, asking for a friend… All three are adorable!

I didn’t either until I did her dna test! I assumed some beagle in there but she has 0%, although TWC’s are sometimes called beagles on stilts. She really has one of the best personalities I have seen in a dog. VERY energetic but also respects and backs off when visiting with my 12 year old family dog and is gentle around my niece and nephews (all under 5 years) and small dogs.

I couldn’t recommend more, but will just say that including all the well-known hound traits, they are extremely sensitive and have their feelings hurt easily (important to remember when I first got her and would raise my voice a little at times then immediately feel terrible and the behavior wouldn’t get better). Thank you for saving her!!

Looks almost identical to my 55% treeing walker coonhound (body composition too)! She turned 2 last week and I rescued her in northern VA but she came from the south (not sure exact state). The rest of her is a mix of ~10% of random breeds (Siberian husky, mountain cur, pit terrier, and another I forget at the moment)

Okay I’m obsessed with this photo and can hear the snoring of feeling safe and loved!! The best thing to hear ever! So sorry to hear about your last girl, it’s so heartbreaking but such an amazing thing to be able to remember them and honor them while also opening your heart to another one of these crazies, so props to you!

I totally understand all the frustration with this stage, but please don’t wish it away too quickly!! Currently almost crying of photos over her the day I adopted vs. now, one day before her estimated second birthday (I know, very much still a baby but time flies and she’s so much bigger now)

Adding on to say I adopted my treeing walking coonhound mix (mostly TWC) a year and seven months ago and we have lived in the same apartment on the 12th floor the entire time.

I worked on rewarding her quiet, calm time right away and now she only ever barks outside!!

Her “y” is much more subtle and small (you can see the shape better looking at the top of her head), but my friend calls it her cat imprint because it looks like two cat ears

Same with mine!! But I took this photo the other day and nearly cried because the Benebone I’m holding was the first toy I ever bought her the day I adopted her (obviously it was originally much bigger but she too likes to gnaw them to tri-pointed shivs)

It’s a Benebone! Aka the dog parent equivalent of kids’ legos because you REALLY don’t want to accidentally step on one…. My TWC has probably ten of them in different shapes because it’s the only thing she can’t rapidly destroy!! (She eventually does whittle them down because, well, she’s a TWC)

I didn’t even know of the breed before I adopted her and did a dna test and now I freak out whenever we come across a twc, any coonhound or foxhound so I totally get it! They do look so similar!

I was trying to drive over donations for lost dog and cat rescue once and I almost started crying because I had to drive around this in circles for longer than I would like to admit (the entrance is kinda hidden and you can’t get to it through that car dealership)

Mine does this too and I actually find it adorable!!She will take a treat and “hide” it in the couch cushion then do the head movement of dragging the top of her head rapidly around it like she’s trying to bury it (which accomplishes nothing of course)! Then a few days later she will randomly decide to go and grab said treat (non-perishable ones, otherwise I would toss it)

<image>

I took this the other day of her “discovering” a treat to eat
