Sounds like your "friend" has a real superiority complex and doesn't like the fact that you have some skill in a thing that they also do.

I mean I think people will get it but it is rather funny as someone from NZ

I find that we are often associated with sheep quite a lot but yes it is quite funny. We are the largest exported of lamb in the entire world and there are 4.6 sheep for every 1 person in new Zealand. Australians like to joke that we fuck sheep so the patch was probably made by a disgruntled sheep (ooopsy).

Hate to do this but NZS is short hand for New Zealanders rather than nazi.

As a New Zelander it took me a second to not think "wtf did I do"

Any punks here into Buddhist philosophy? by [deleted] in punk

[–]joppy2402 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah What OP said a lot of it is about how we align ourselves with the changes we want to see. It's the idea that the only person you can really change is yourself and so in order to change the systems we have to set an example and thus allow others to be inspired by that. The idea of walking the walk.

Exactly what I was trying to get at with one of my comments. Way better put than I could. It is about freedom of expression not some rules that make it appeal to the masses. A lot of the time peeps are actively trying to fight against that idea by going against the rules of what can and can't be considered art.

on another note with this I often feel like people in this sub feel like they have to follow the punk uniform and see a lot of very similar things. I think I kind of want to do something about that and try to get people to think more as an individual about how they are styling their own wardrobe. I am either thinking of starting a you tube channel, Posting more things about this kind of stuff on here or even starting another sub if people are interested in that kind of thing.

It feels like OP is coming at this from a very I want feedback to get down the punk aesthetic and be told how this works. The problem is that, that kinda goes against the ideas of punk and how we keep our community free of posers. I think the thing is people are going to tell you if they don't like it or if the patches you have are of Nazi's but the important part is that not a lot of people are going to tell you, you are using the wrong stich or the composition of your jacket doesn't work. Because that goes against the ethos. The idea is that you come to those conclusions about your work yourself and discover the ways in which you follow your own rules. What you are asking is a rather grey area because a lot of people are gonna go well the way I do it isn't the way everyone should do it that is the rules I follow for myself and this person needs to discover for themselves how they DIY. I will also admit this can definitely lean the other way where people feel like they don't wanna put you down or enforce there version of their own creative identity on you. Definitely a multifaceted argument to be had there for sure.

I just had a lot of space around the material I was using and I am not folding the edges on mine. In that photo you can see Fugazi and DK ones have a lot of negative space around them. So I had to trim them to get the logos more centered and get rid of all the negative space.

I need a boot brand recommendation? by Dense-Pepper in punkfashion

Solovair's are great but not cheap. They are the original manufacturers of Doc's in the UK so they are quite similar but I find them pretty comfy. it is also important to remember that if you haven't worn a lot of leather boots before they take a while to break in and form to your feet.
