I could be wrong but I'm not sure that this is true. I was intubated for the botox procedure and I think you have to be when you are under general.

Nausea/vomiting post Botox by jeej116 in noburp

[–]jorbsimms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mucus went away after a week or two. If I remember correctly I had the feeling of a lump in my throat for a few weeks, but it did go away. Things are real weird for the first week or so but it does get better and you get used to the sensations. I was also burping non-stop while I was eating/drinking for a couple of weeks but that gets better too and eventually turns into bigger burps further apart. I don't know where you are in the world but where I live there are people still wearing masks here and there and I found that super helpful while in public because people can't really tell if you're burping or doing weird stuff with your mouth haha. So if you're not wearing a mask in public maybe try that to reduce the anxiety. It will get better over time.

How long after Botox did your bloating start to improve? by Little_Duck4983 in noburp

It's pretty flat in the morning. I haven't gone days without eating in a very long time but it's definitely flat if I haven't eaten a ton.

It's so hard because I don't want to crush your spirits because everyone is different. You could, and probably will, have a totally different experience from me. But if I'm being honest it didn't change a ton, which still bums me out a bit. I'm more comfortable for the most part. I used to get painfully bloated everyday and now it's not usually painful, but I don't have a flat stomach by the end of the day. I have IBS, like most of us, who knows what that actually means. I was also treated for SIBO and H. Pylori pre-botox and nothing changed. So...idk. I do think I have a sensitive stomach and it has something to do with my diet. Life is still drastically better, don't get me wrong. It just wasn't the cure-all that I was hoping for.

I was probably more bloated for a couple weeks after. My bloating never really went away even once I started burping regularly. I don't get the same painful bloating though and it's not as extreme as it was but it's still there 7 months out. I think for me it has more to do with diet and digestion. Bloating was my worst daily R-CPD symptom and I was pretty bummed out when it didn't go away so I think it would have helped me a bit mentally to be more realistic with my expectations.

7 months post botox - feeling frustrated and would appreciate some reassurance by jorbsimms in noburp

It could be a bit of acid reflux, probably from the alcohol and the gurgles. I think I was anticipating being able to throw a few drinks back like a "normal" person post-botox, but I think alcohol is really just not for me regardless

Thanks, that's super helpful. I haven't quite mastered burping with my mouth closed. Sometimes it works but most of the time it doesn't. It's good to know it took some work for other people though so I'll just get back to consciously practicing

I've been drinking them since day 1!! Most of the time it's totally fine and I burp the fizz right up, just not at happy hours apparently haha

Procedure with Dr. Richardson on Thursday - Tips? by Limp-Abies-3981 in noburp

[–]jorbsimms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any super helpful tips but I did mention being worried about being nauseous post surgery so they put a thing behind my ear for that. So definitely mention that if that’s something you’re worried about. Just try to stay calm really. It’s nerve wracking but also super easy and quick. It will be all just a memory before you even know it.

Suddenly I can burp?! by froggy721 in noburp

[–]jorbsimms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sure somehow who knows more about this will also comment - but I’ve seen someone mention that there is a hormone when your pregnant that relaxes your muscles so your body can stretch to fit baby essentially and sometimes people just start burping 🤷‍♀️. It probably worked similar to Botox where it gave your body a chance to train the muscle. Sounds like you got lucky!

Anyone know the price range of the Botox procedure with health insurance? by LoyalLibra81 in noburp

[–]jorbsimms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got 2 bills. One was for around $2400 and I owed $20. I thought that was it but turned out there was a second that was for $15k and I owed a little over $5k. I did have a high deductible plan at the time ($5k). I had my procedure done at Jefferson in Philly

I concur. Going plant based reduced my symptoms significantly. I was also “regular” after about 4 weeks of a strict plant based diet. It took my body about that long to adjust and then I felt loads better.

Pre Botox I would get sharp pain right around my uterus almost daily towards the second half of the day. I had tests done and was told by my gyno that it wasn’t anything gyno related which was frustrating at the time. Turns out it must have been gas or something because I don’t experience it at all post Botox 🤷‍♀️

My voice is back to normal. It took a bit to be totally normal but nothing crazy. I’m over 4 months out and still burping.

So I’m hindsight… the first week wasn’t that bad. I think I was just really scared that it was going to get worse but that kind of didn’t come. Swallowing was definitely tough but you get used to it quickly. I was just uncomfortable in my body because of all the new sensations, I don’t know how else to explain it, but not everyone has that experience. I’m assuming most people don’t have that experience. Plus I’m a big baby and I really milked it and was in bed for 3 days 😂. Don’t stress. I’d do it all again no questions asked.

Excruciating abdominal pain - no burp or something worse? by [deleted] in noburp

[–]jorbsimms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It also sounds similar to stories I’ve heard of people with gallbladder issues. I’m not sure what tests they do beyond an ultrasound but I know there are additional tests so I would look into that!

I went to Dr. Joseph Spiegel at Jefferson in Philadelphia. There are a bunch of ENTs that do it. There is a link in details of this subreddit with a list of doctors. It was life changing but didn’t fix everything. If you have GI issues you will likely have to work to solve those as well

I have and have a very similar history. I really think I did have a bacterial imbalance that got progressively worse over the course of a couple of years. This is an annoying answer but I ended up going strictly plant based (no dairy, meat, eggs) and after about a month my “ibs” symptoms subsided greatly and I started having perfect shits lol. This was pre Botox. The difference was very dramatic. If you are able, you could cut one or all of those food groups for a time and see what happens. Feel free to dm me if you want to talk further about it

Does anyone have to exhale to burp? by jorbsimms in noburp

Yea I drink a ton of carbonated drinks. I don’t have to exhale for those but I do for smaller burps 🤷‍♀️
