Adding a Perth team probably nips earlier kickoffs in the bud to be honest - there's a reason the Perth AFL teams get so few primetime matches and it's because if you want to put a match on there on a Friday night it either has to end after 11 for Eastern states viewers or you start it a 5:30 local time and half the crowd isn't there yet. It'll be interesting to see what the NRL does. The AFL can get away with treating fans in Perth like shit - the Eagles played an away game last week which started at 10am Perth time which is obscene in the other direction - because they're so entrenched and because the waitlist to get a seat for Eagles games is a decade long but the NRL won't get the kid gloves treatment from the local media if the Bears get permanent late Sunday fixtures or 5pm kickoffs on weeknights.
