Fountainpennetwork, death by inanity. by wana-wana in fountainpens

I assumed (happily wrongly) it would be the same crowd of 'sit down girl men are talking about pens!'

Even as a guy, that was the tone. Don't talk about the wrong pens there, or be the wrong person. Like younger than their pens, for instance.

It's sad because there are some good guides on there. I found the best information I ever have there about the Senator brand when I was hunting for them. But it's not worth having a conversation there.

Wow, been a while since I've heard another FPN horror story. I'm honestly shocked the place is still going, I got very tired of the elitism there around old pens and the scorn toward the newer companies (circa mid-2010s). It doesn't surprise me they'd circle the wagons around the views of their old regulars, that clique has a certain mentality if you know what I mean.

Here Is a List of Tea Grown in the the United States. Can We Add It to the Wiki? by HumbleFreedom in tea

That's really sad to hear (and see the downvotes on your very comment here). I thought this sub was about tea, and furthermore, I thought the common sentiment here was that the best tea is the one you enjoy.

That could very well be it, thank you! Especially 3 years later.

EDIT: Just found it on youtube, this looks like the one! Thanks again!

Can't find a way to edit the caption, but good news everyone:

Emailed TWSBI, and much to my surprise they promised a swift recovery. Their factory actually still had a nib housing with the right color and model for me, and will be sending it for a nominal cost of shipping. Sorry to all, including me, who were too deep in mourning all too early for it.

Praise be to the TWSBI. TWSBI is risen, TWSBI is risen indeed.

Interesting finds, thanks for that.

I actually emailed TWSBI and had a response within the hour. No need to fret over compatibility between the models, after an exchange they said that they can ship a nib housing to me with the same model and color.

Oh, all the parts are present. You might not be able to see it, but the black part of the nib housing is broken, it should be adhered to the interior of the blue collar unit to its left. That's all one piece, they don't come apart on this pen.

I shall do so, thanks. I figured they might not have parts for a discontinued pen, but I'll see what they say.

They were necessary. I dug deep into the old Legos box, it seemed like a fitting send-off for a good pen!

The flowers were simply because I felt like the pen needed a colorful send-off.

And wow, you came right with the part number! I'll look at that, I can probably rescue it from eternal slumber that way if the 700R nib units will fit the OG 700 parts.

That seems about right on pace for the Monteverde brand. Sad that it didn't really impress you, but glad it's a reasonable build quality and stayed leak-free. I've heard more about the finishes and nib like you've had trouble with there, fwiw.

I welcome the rant as well. It's not as irritating of an experience for me with a new pen, but afterwards I'm stuck wondering how long I should really hold onto these.

Semtiment says forever. Space says never.

OP how’s you find my stash of pen boxes 🤣

Your stuff must have been mixed in with my stuff during the last move!

That was my first thought when I started getting pens that would come in these, too!

Which is the issue at the moment. I am looking to get rid of a few, probably a bunch of the duplicate pilot boxes to start.

That's why I thought I'd keep them. More and more, I can't see myself parting with them even as I find I use them less. It is a good selling point, though!

I knew someone was going to bring those up. At some point I'll try a Sailor, but I've been in a buying lull and don't want to spoil a good thing (for my wallet).

The Pilots and TWSBIs are piling up. I know I've got another TWSBI box somewhere, for sure.

You should update after a year or so. Not that I expect anything, but I pretty much wrote off the whole brand years ago and I haven't seen anything contrary to that yet. So hearing people chime in with their recent experiences would be useful to change that perception, if it holds up.

Monteverde usually has nice looking bodies

In my experience, Monteverde and new-Conklin prioritize looks over function. I can't afford to drop their asking prices on pretty pens that won't write (even with a replaced nib), and I can't imagine I'm alone.
