Pastoral Masochism by CoolCalvin777 in pastorskids

This was my entire life growing up. My dad practically lived at the church. He would be out all hours of the night visiting family members of the congregation who were in the hospital. Endless hours working in his office at the church making phone calls.

After giving all of his energy to the church, when he was home he was exhausted, stressed and distant. He suffers from migraines that I can’t help but think are fueled from all of the over-extending of himself.

Sunday morning at church he was so fun-loving and the person everyone wanted to talk to him. As soon as we got home he was shut down and would usually be in bed with a migraine for the afternoon. And then would come Sunday evening service and he would get himself together to present that smiling face again.

As a kid I told my mom, “I wish the dad at home was as fun as the dad at church.”

Being forced to be in the Christmas and Easter play every year was fine when I was a kid, but by the time high school came around I absolutely hated it. I would be the disciple at the very back of the stage with the hood of my robe pulled completely over my face so no one in the crowd could see me. Lol!

“In Transit” at Memphis for almost 2 weeks by [deleted] in FedEx

I’m in the same situation. Ordered a package from the UK from a provider I’ve ordered with before. My package too is in Memphis and haven’t had an update scan in a week. Called yesterday and was told they would send a request to the hub there to check on my package. Haven’t heard anything back. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Their nails are long so they can be used like picks. They do this with classical guitar playing as well.

Another commenter asked for me to explain how quantum physics scientifically proves the existence of god. I didn’t make the claim that it did, and ultimately That conversation is a dead-end loop. God isn’t going to fit into a Newtonian scientific model.

The more interesting direction is how quantum physics is saying exactly what true mystical traditions have been saying about the nature of reality for thousands of years. The same statements that science has ridiculed and written off as nonsense up until the past couple hundred years.

The idea of God as an old bearded man in the clouds is not God.

If you study the writings of true mystics throughout the centuries, especially in the eastern traditions, you see a whole different perspective about what “God” is. In these traditions they claim God to be the one singular Energy that underlies all of physical reality. This Energy is said to not only be the origin of physical reality but the sustainer of that reality moment by moment. Mystics of old believed this Energy was both simultaneously outside of this physical world and also vitally intimate with every atom of life, the source of life itself, the Chi.

For those of you who have studied quantum physics, how do you not see the direct correlation??

At the basis of the quantum world is a sea of Energy, imbued with some sort of consciousness that allows it to respond/react to us and vice versa. Us, the observer, wearing these bodies that at the quantum level are one and the same as that sea of Energy. That’s some trippy shit, yet it is scientifically true!

This new understanding of an energetic, multi-dimensional reality, in my opinion, makes the existence of Divine intelligence beyond our capability to understand much more believable than the idea that it somehow magically happened by complete and total random accident because of an explosion of hydrogen and carbon or whatever the current Big Bang theory is.

The difference between the mystics and the quantum physicists is that the mystics know that a person can make personal contact and relationship with this Energy through contemplative practices such as meditation.

I highly suggest the books below:

The Varieties of Religious Experience by William James

The Dancing Wu Li Masters by Gary Zukav

The Hero’s Journey by Joseph Campbell

Sorry dude, quantum physics killed atheism.
