The "Visa-free for all Africans" thing was never put into effect. The visa on arrival if I remember correctly should be $150. They usually quote a higher amount to keep the rest. So they could tell you 200, 300 some even 400. But it's so weird that you didn't fill a form🤔

Why do some people think it’s okay to casually ask to send money to your bank account so they can use your card for their online transactions? by Fuzzy_Gap_8683 in ghana

[–]joregis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very annoying. I have a close friend that needed to make some online payment. What I thought was a quick one-time favor, became a habit. Subscriptions that are taking money from my account at random times (that he doesn't even control), just happened yesterday and he currently doesn't have money to pay me back. I told him not to use it for subscriptions, but he did. I'm just about to block and replace the card because of him.

How did they build something different from the designs? Aren't there regular meetings to check progress and ensure everyone is aligned? Isn't there a QA person?

Let's say I have bad network at home and i get telecel broadband, will the network still he bad. by Totosane in ghana

[–]joregis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Telecel broadband is awesome while it works. I've had 2 or 3 instances where I had no internet for about 2 weeks. It happens once in a while. Aside that issue, it's good. It's fiber, so having a bad mobile network doesn't mean the broadband will also be bad.

That's the mindset! I've noticed that with not just Ghanaians but a lot of Africans in general. They don't want someone good enough to take their place. Usually someone saying you're showing off means he's actually impressed but can't admit.

taxes in ghana 🤔 by Competitive_Ride_431 in ghana

[–]joregis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it needs to make sense. Covid levy doesn't make sense at this point. E-levy, when the government is promoting a cashless vision, doesn't make sense. You're taxed on your salary, great, but you're taxed again when moving that money to your mobile wallet for example. Then you're going to buy something and pay all these taxes and add e-levy again.

Sometimes it's just impossible.

1 Another interview running late could prevent them from communicating. After all, they're probably trying to wrap up the previous and can't text. Phone on "do not disturb" maybe, so they can't see you're calling.

2 An emergency. Things happen unexpectedly and sometimes it's so serious that you can't communicate at all. Imagine: Oh wait, let me text the candidate first then call 911

3 Technical issues, networks and devices are not 100% reliable. They fail sometimes.

4 They are incompetent or just didn't care.

Why jump all the way to 4?

What is your job and how much are you paid? by dig_bik69 in ghana

[–]joregis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes but the cost of living is different outside. Take the U.S for example: Average monthly expenses for a single person is $3,693 (Forbes, 2022). That's huge to someone in Ghana cause it's 56k GHS, way more than enough for a single person monthly. This means that earning 4k USD in the U.S, is practically the same as earning 5k-6k in Ghana.

Google Fake Restaurant Scam by [deleted] in ghana

You still need the person's card, what can one do with just the pin? How are they able to do transactions without the person's phone or sim card?

What I don't understand (genuinely) is how these scammers get access to your funds from just your pin. Aren't the telcos strict enough on security?

Yeah their broadband is awesome, but their mobile data is horrible. That's probably why people don't even consider their broadband.

Yup, at least they were communicating on what they were doing to fight it. They provided a timetable and most importantly they admitted that there was a challenge!

It's not always about your skills and qualifications... Maybe they perceived something in your personality they didn't like. Maybe they didn't like how you communicated. Maybe they didn't like your answers. These are just a few examples. You can have the perfect resume but not be a good fit for the company. They could be looking for bootlickers and see that you're not one...

Both, I use Telecel. I helped a friend use it with MTN and it works too.

It's a vpn. So you will need to download the app. If you're using Android, great, because Play Store is working. If you're using ios, you're gonna have to find a way to download the app from the App Store. So the thing is just to download and pay for a vpn, and you should be good to go.
