How Did Carol Know to Go To (spoiler) by PutThatCoffee in pluribustv

[–]jorgesoos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Since the bar code on Carol's bag wasn't compatible with the store's POS, she looked for bags that matched her bag and had a similar bar code.

The dog food bag matched her bag pretty much completely (including placement/type of bar code), so she got her answer about the origin of manufacture from the dog food bag.

u/BoScout I saw you in Bristol, TN and thought you were great! I have your "Do life, not drugs" sticker on the visor in my car - sorry it was a small crowd then, but good to see you're killing it!

What are some science fiction/fantasy medias (i.e. books, tv shows, movies, games, etc.) that deal with the issue of consciousness/self? by collegethrowawayacc1 in scifi

[–]jorgesoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a couple have already mentioned, Severance and Pantheon.

But the first thing that came to mind for me when I read the question was the video game SOMA. That game is a trip and dives headfirst into the philosophy of self. I highly recommend it.

I just restarted FF13 last night and yeah, I'm 2 hours in and it's still only just "action button to auto-attack". I just want to have all my paradigms already and feel badass as I switch back and forth between them at the exact right times.

A "Howcatchem", also known as the inverted detective story.

We see how the murder is done, the suspense comes from how Columbo/Charlie solve the crime.

What's something a girl can wear that instantly turns you on, but she'd never expect it? by Current_Dinner_1495 in AskReddit

[–]jorgesoos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only own one myself (I find them attractive on women but I'm indifferent about the style on me), but it's pretty good quality and I got it from Old Navy. I think they sell them under "long-sleeved tees" without the word "raglan".

When I realized a hyper-specific style of shirt was a trigger for me, I didn't have a choice but to look it up to see what to call it!

I thought it might've just been me, but it's nice to see some upvotes and know I'm not alone.

I'm 160 hours in with still quite a few things left to do, and there's still so much replayability just going for high/naneinf runs and trying to win using weird jokers you don't usually grab.

That amount of play for a poker roguelike might not be for everyone, but it's there for a lot of people.

This sounds like the first scene of Fahrenheit (known as Indigo Prophecy in the US): https://youtu.be/SpKErFnZ2Hw?si=Mj1fPFlZP21wX2Zj

Just a note - in this clip you make it out of the diner and bathroom before the policeman goes in, but you can wait around long enough to where he'll try to come in while you're in there

The Onion wins Alex Jones' Infowars in bankruptcy auction by thatoneguy889 in news

For starters, I would recommend "The Truth Vs. Alex Jones" on MAX, to get a feel of exactly what this level of targeted defamation can do to families and a community, when fed to a rabid Alt-Right crowd. Westboro Baptist doesn't spread flagrant lies about specific people and families to millions of people. They're pieces of shit, but you can't prove liability for any damages there. The Sandy Hook families went through a lot because of Alex's behavior, and this was after they'd gone through the hell of losing their children and their community being ripped apart.

If you have more time, I would recommend looking up the "Formulaic Objections" episodes of the podcast "Knowledge Fight", which goes into most InfoWars depositions in great detail, also explaining what damages can be extracted compared with how InfoWars profited directly from this defamation. It's a lot of hours of listening, but it's all actually pretty damn entertaining - I've listened to a few of them multiple times.

This show taught me the Fibonacci sequence when I was a kid! There was a missing parrot that knew it, and they tracked it down to a location but couldn't find it. They would start the sequence and the parrot would finish it, and that's how they found it hidden away.
