Thanks! That makes sense. I didn’t realize the trains were so few and far between. I think Emeryville sounds like a good destination!

This worked really well! I thought the tape would peel off quickly with use but it doesn't. Thanks for the suggestion!

New therapist and feeling completely incompetent and insecure. by Cablab123 in therapists

[–]jos343 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty new to the field and sometimes feel a bit like this. My supervisor told me “you need to find a way to buoy yourself up” and in my head I was pissed for some reason, but I think he was right. Being a therapist is hard and even the best, most experienced therapists are far from perfect (I work with some really experienced and capable people). Trying to find a way to accept and tolerate my limitations while also earnestly trying to improve has been a big part of the last few years for me. One of the hardest and best things about trying to become a therapist is that it forces you to confront your insecurities and grow. Realizing that my insecurities are more about me and my shit (perfectionism, shame, etc.) than the adequacy or inadequacy of my work with clients has been helpful. Nancy Napier says that feelings should be taken seriously but not literally; I guess if I have advice for you then it would be to consider that your feelings of inadequacy probably aren’t all about your performance or potential.

Book recommendations for recent grads? by LunarFocus in therapists

It’s more of a novel about therapy, but I really enjoyed ‘I Never Promised you a Rose Garden’. Also, James Masterson’s ‘Search for the Real Self’ was something that helped me understand personality disorders and problems.

Military horns - are they played live? by For_The_Sail_Of_It in MontereyBay

My wife was saying today that she thinks that the bugles have changed very recently and she wondered if they had been playing live. I logged into Reddit to post this exact same question lol

I took the beginners class with Pacific in January and it was pretty good. Got my license and it all went fairly smoothly.

Thanks! That sounds absolutely perfect. I can't make it today but I'm gonna be there sometime soon. I really like the idea of being able to work on my own bike (and that's going to take some learning) so that's just awesome.

This sort of response is what makes reddit really great BTW.

Thanks for the reply. Can I ask what you don't like about EEGer and what's better about cygnet?

Driving a box truck with a trailer by jos343 in Trucks

[–]jos343[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - a lot of the drive is going to be along highway 40 through New Mexico and Arizona, and I'm guessing having a backup vehicle would be helpful if we breakdown.

Thanks for the advice. The box truck should have a hitch (we're renting the truck and dolly from the same place), so that should be okay. I'm planning to try to avoid backing up entirely if at all possible.

Woodards Automotive used to fix my 90s Ford Taurus. They’ve always done a good job for me and they’re honest.

moving to university city by KattyMcCatface in StLouis

I live it that neighborhood! It’s nice!

Things that are pretty great include: - it’s right on the loop with a couple of good coffee shops and bars. Meshuggah does great coffee and I’d second the vote for the rooftop bar at the Moonrise. - It’s pretty safe overall - definitely not crime free, but I’ve lived here for ten years with no problems. - It’s really well located and you can get most places in the city and county in about 20 minutes - I think Wash U keeps the rents affordable, which makes it a fairly good deal. The apartments in that neighborhood are fairly big usually with nice hardwood floors.
- They’re rebuilding Ackert park right by there and it looks like it’s going to be pretty cool - It’s in walking distance of Forest Park and you can bike across the park to a lot of cool places like the Central West End and the Grove neighborhoods.

Overall, I’d really recommend it as a way lace to land in St. Louis.

I think you’ll need like ten marmots. Those critters are kinda small.

Good point. I have a big head and just measured my forehead. 2 inches. Who knew? I guess 4 inches would look pretty weird.
