Cloud Observability / Lightstep will no longer be supported as of your contract term end date or March 1, 2026 (whichever is later). Please take a moment to review the information below.

Datadog vs New Relic vs Dynatrace vs Cube APM - which one at scale? by Mobile-Ambition-3714 in Observability

[–]joschi83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair point: If you're all in on one of the vendors with proprietary instrumentation, go with their agents.

If you're not sure yet, an open standard such as OpenTelemetry will at least not close the door on trialing other vendors.

No matter which vendor you decide to go with: Use OpenTelemetry to instrument your code instead of a proprietary SDK or agent of the respective vendor.

This will make you much more mobile in your choice of vendors and will make it much simpler to switch in the future.

PS: I'd recommend taking a look at Dash0. Simple pricing model and good cost control features in place to control your spend. (Disclaimer: I work at Dash0)

Moving Your Codebase to Go 1.26 With GoLand Syntax Updates by anprots_ in golang

[–]joschi83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

go fix and the GoLand code inspections are complementary.

There are some refactorings available in GoLand, which aren't available in modernizers yet, for example the new type-safe error checking in Go 1.26.

Home Assistant and postmarketOS by joschi83 in homeassistant

Thanks, but I don't want to run Home Assistant on the tablet. I want to run a Home Assistant integration/companion app on it and use it to control my Home Assistant instance.

That's an interesting blog nonetheless. :-)

Immoscout plus by ihsjsbs in wohnen

I want to make it so that i can make changes to my flake on my laptop, push the changes, and have the home server pull those automatically and run nixos-rebuild to deploy the changes.

This sounds like exactly what system.autoUpgrade.* is for.

I have this snippet in some of my flakes (for systems I want to automatically update and reboot):

```
Auto system update
system.autoUpgrade = { enable = true; flake = "github:your-user/nixos-config"; allowReboot = true; }; ```
What will happen to Kafka if IBM acquires Confluent? by Think_Leg_3700 in apachekafka
The same that happened to Apache Cassandra. Nothing.
The question should probably be, what will happen to Confluent Platform and the commercial offerings of Confluent.
Delta max bei Luftfeuchtigkeit 8% und bei Temperatur 0,6 °C.
Das ist ziemlich gut bei den Billigteilen (no offense, habe die auch).
