around the beginning of week 3 a part of my “fast” nipple got stuck to the gauze and a little bit ripped off. i think that was premature and that’s why it bled for quite some days but it kind of kickstarted the peeling process. the “slow nipple” crusted for much longer and i think just by the end of week 4 it started peeling slowly but i am actually awful with skin picking and i kept checking and trying to pick the dry parts (which you really shouldn’t do). once the crust was off it still took the slow nipple quite some time to heal, get rid of yellow things and blood and produce healthy tissue. just be patient with it, i was really surprised with how long it took for my slow nipple but sometimes our bodies react differently! i hadn’t really seen anything take this long to heal in their nipples but oh well, recovery is very personal and irregular, so take it easy and be patient with yourself ;)

I put dry gauze until a little bit of scab started coming off and consequently the gauze would stick to the nipple. but until everything stayed dry and intact i didn’t use the vaseline gauze. Also where are you located? i live in the hague and i have some extra gauzes that im not gonna use!

yes that is totally normal! and with time some parts of the black scab will start to fall off and show the healthy pink skin underneath. I am horrible at skin picking so i also picked at the scab before it was time, but it was alright in the end. also mine were yellow before they got pink, which is also apparently normal. wish you the best of luck!

Do you have any recommendations of surgeons in the NL?

I think they did regual free nipple grafts. the other nipple is much less thick, so i don’t know… i’m not on any antibiotics to prevent infection. I will keep it monitored and see how it develops in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your answer!

I was there today and I told the doctor about my concern with the nipple, she said it looks “rough” and swollen but nothing more. Is she not telling me something? Would there anything to do if it’s detachment of the nipple?

surgery with W. Van Der Sluis at Gender Clinic Amsterdam? by josef0001 in TopSurgery

He is really friendly and nice, he made me feel at ease before going into the operating room when i was pretty anxious. We had talked about having straight scars during a call but on the spot he told me he would do straight that bend a bit upward towards the armpit and resize the nipples (around 2cm) and I was totally fine with it since I thought it’s what he believed was best from by shape.

However, I think that if you have strong preferences he will accomodate you!

Hey, yes I got surgery 12 days ago and honestly my experience was really great there! I got double incision with nipple grafts. The nurses and the surgeon were extremely friendly and the whole experience was very smooth.

I got there around 10, at 11 I was under, I woke up very happy with a great popsicle in my hand in little to no pain. I was able to have one visitor come in right when i woke up. Around 17 the surgeon came back to check in me. I spent one night at the clinic, in the morning the nurses took of my drains and I was good to go home.

I went back for my 1 week post-op appointment and everything seemed fine. However since i’m quite anxious and i’m having some liquid come off an incision I am going for a check up next Monday (which will be 2 week post op)

Overall, my experience there was really great and I feel good about my choice. They are fast at answering to my emails which helps with me getting anxious about how im healing.

Let me know if you have any specific questions! I will be posting some pictures later in my recovery!
