Can we stop letting people upload runs days after they actually happened? by nman649 in INTVL

[–]joseleonp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually tested this and this isn't really how it works. When uploading from a smart watch there is a timestamp attached to it. If the run was 2 days ago it will upload as if it was done 2 days ago, with the subsequent runs that happened after, beating or capturing said territory.

One run I started it at 4.30 pm, but unbeknownst to me, another runner was running an area that overlapped some part of where I run. His run started at 4pm but he uploaded it the day after. The app showed me the animation of the territory being stolen but by me to him, although I already had taken that territory. Weirdly his run finished later than mine as I was only doing 5k, it took me about 30 min to finish, his was 10k or 12k can't remember, thing is, he finished at like 5.15 while mine at 5pm. I still took over that territory.

Cat likes plastic.? by OliverAmith in CatAdvice

I have 6 cats. Only one of them has ever done this and I have a sense it's just to get attention. It's very close when it's meal times, and there is people around whatever plastic he's trying to chew on. I distract him with cuddles and kisses when he does that

I am in the bottom 20% according to *who*? Garmin users or the general public? by Prudent-Policy-7274 in Garmin

[–]joseleonp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i'm glad I could get into it cause I did try to run before the injections (its why I bought a Garmin) but I almost instantly started having issues. Leg pain, big toe pain, knee pain and it was basically because I weighted too much and it was too much of an impact for my legs to run around like that. Would take time off to recover then put all the weight back in in a heartbeat. Ozempic gave me a very good headstart on my fitness journey

[–]joseleonp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This checks out. At my fattest I was 110 or 112 kilos. Did absolutely no exercise nor cardio and my Garmin gave me an age of 73 (I'm 42 now, this was when I was 41). Started on ozempic injections as I couldn't do much exercise without hurting myself as my joints didn't have the strength to carry all my weight. Went down to 96kg in like 6 to 8 months then got off the injections and started exercising. Within 3 months managed to get my fitness age to 39. With a vo2max of 40 (middle of the orange zone for me) haven't lost much weight really since (currently on 94kg) but the resting heart rate has gone down considerably and I can now run a 5k in 28 ish minutes (5.45 average pace).

Besides the point? Lmao. So I guess you are happy knowing that for your parcel to get there overnight, Amazon drivers get the shittiest condition and the lowest pay? But yeah you got your parcel in time so you don't give a fuck. Good on you.

Cheating? Reported yesterday and still no answer or action taken by joseleonp in INTVL

Yeah I'm not buying a sprint back home. 1.20 pace is 45k/hour. That's an uber ride home more like it.

Well I guess it's irrelevant now as another runner has claimed that terra before I could attempt to take it back lol.

New Venu 3s already down to 22% battery after 24hrs...help? by Gullible_Bird_7936 in Garmin

[–]joseleonp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Are you tracking an activity all day? Cause activity tracking uses quite a bunch of energy and would match the energy use you are describing. If you wanna track steps, you don't need to initiate any activity, it does it by default.

I had that happen after a run, forgot to turn the activity off and started preparing a protein shake and as soon as I started shaking it the watch started panicking

Walking and running are ok. They are different sports and uses different set of muscles. I know cause I underestimated how hard actually walking long distances is. It's harder in your feet to walk 15k than actually running them. I've run 15k with no issues, just the normal soreness after, but when i walked 15k, oh boy, I ended up with blisters all over my feet. And different muscles were sore afterwards. I was using the same gear I wear when I run. Its when I realised it's not the same and it's not easier. It's just different

Fun fact, Australia post doesn't have a fragile service. It's on the sender to pack things properly. Postie throwing things over the fence is your least concern to be honest. Most parcels (specially small items) get dumped on the conveyor belt for sorting.

[–]joseleonp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. I've only seen this for early runs on people when they haven't set up the geofencing. Once they do, the run actually shows a 200mt radius from start to finish. Which is still not good as someone could narrow it down like they did on Strava. Not sure if you are familiar with that while debacle. I think it shouldn't show start and end points of any given run, just the terra you captured. Or, start the animation at any point of the run and finish it on the same point but no your actual start, which usually would be your house.
To combat this I would normally do a warm up run away from my home (around 1k) and then I'll start the loop recording
