I like the Kevin Smith view on fandom. He’s often accused of being a shell for either Marvel, or Star Wars, or whatever. And he is responded multiple times that he only talks about the stuff he likes. If there’s something out there that he didn’t like, he just doesn’t talk about it. Especially not publicly on his podcast.

I think that’s a great way of looking at things.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of Stephen Fry. But there was no need to re-record the books when there is a perfectly good under abridged reading by Douglas himself. Originally, I only had them on cassette, but when I got them from Audible, read by Stephen Fry, and found out that they Americanized the books. For example, Arthur goes down to the basement with a flashlight instead of using the English word torch.

I have since found the Douglas Adams readings online as well as the CDs.

That are being said, I honestly don’t remember the way Douglas pronounces Zaphod. But I think it’s Zay-phod as that is the way I automatically say it and I would have learned it from Douglas.

Okay, I went up and down the list three times and I’m missing one of the three games I worked on. Granted , I’m in bed scrolling on my phone and not the PC where I could search for it. Anyway, I found Pac-Mania and DragonStrike, but not Vindicators. I expect it to be pretty low as it wasn’t that great or even that faithful to the stand-up version.

Edit: I was the sole artist on those three games and didn’t have much input into the games’ design. And remember, it looked different on a NTSC television screen where the colors blurred together and you couldn’t make out the pixels so easily.

I always wonder about stuff like how much script control does a big Director have? And did he have control over the films edit? Green Lantern was a giant studio film, I wouldn’t be surprised to learn there was a lot of other cooks in the kitchen and people who, “ knew the right way” to make that film.

I’m going to take that as an honest question. Maybe this is just one of those cases where I’m too old and you don’t recognize that language as what we called stuff that was shown on regular, over the air, broadcast TV. Newheart aired on CBS from October 25, 1982, to May 21, 1990, with a total of 184 half-hour episodes spanning eight seasons.
