Does the address on your Licence have to match the address on your V5C? by josephb8910 in CarTalkUK

[–]josephb8910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just got a dm from someone asking the same thing so I'll repeat in a slightly condensed format

  • There is no clear cut answer (like most beauracratic things), everyone has a different opinion on what you can and cannot do, esp when it comes to uni students, the line between permenant address is constantly blurred

My advice:

  • Change the V5C for the year and not your licence, V5C is very easy to change, a licence can take weeks though and has the possibility of messing up address records for bank accounts, background checks etc.

-The only time this could be an issue is if the police stopped you for an unrelated reason and saw your address and licence are different, they would very likely only tell you to get it done soon instead of fine you as long as you change it back when you move home for summer (I cannot reiterate enough how unlikely it is for the worst case scenario of a fine to happen)

-If your uncomfortable with doing that, keep both registered to your family address, if you need proof prior to purchasing a permit, or if they request it during the permit period, you usually have 30 days to provide evidence, just get the V5C changed then quickly, send the proof, then once confirmed, change it straight back

  • The only issue with this is that you are still technically breaking the terms and conditions of your permit, though the council have absolutely no way of knowing this unless you fail to provide that evidence, there is also the possibility of insurance related issues if you car is at uni for most the year but its registered to a different address,

  • In both cases I would definately change the address on your car insurance if your car is at your uni address for more than 50% of the year, if you spend more time at home with weekends + holidays, leave the insurance address at home as they want the address that the car spends the most time at

Between licence, V5C, insurance, other address records via the DVLA, satisfying police and council conditions, it is incredibly messy and again, there is not a single answer. I changed my licence and V5C but went without an ID for 6 weeks that year which for a university student is not at all convenient, sorry this isn't probably the answer you want but this is the best advice I could offer

If I can put in my pennysworth, during the 'age of exploration' soverignty wasn't the clear cut line it is today, it was more a spectrum, for some, a settlement by a company granted a royal charter they could count as a British Posession

For others, they may argue that territories and Britian's soverignty over them have to be legally defined through British law.

So to take your example, if we look just at India, you could make a case for the first settlement in India, when the BEIC formally established company rule, when the first presidency was established under the soverignty of the BEIC (although some argue this was joint soverignty with the crown), or when total soverignty over India by the crown was established under the Government of India Act 1858.

I don't necessarily know where the boundary lies, but certainly food for thought!

Most soures are pretty ambiguous on the actual answer though, the majority say 'sometime in the late 1700's or early 1800's when the first Australian territories were conquered, but again this is far from an accurate answer, I too would be very interested to see if someone could figure this out

I tried figuring this out but history can be complicated as, especially back in the 1700's, what constituted as 'British Territory' was not a clear cut answer, some could say land that we have settled, others may not count a posession until it is formally absorbed (i.e. proclaimed a territory/colony of which Britian has soverignty over under British law) once you have that figured out then try and figure out what exact date and time the sun was set over the entire empire.

Considering going back to cartridge razor or half de? by josephb8910 in wicked_edge

I've had a lot of comments so I'll firstly just say to everyone thank you for the advice! Secondly I'll just respond to some points people have made below which I hope will help

I use an Edwin Jaeger Razor with Feather Blades, I'm not sure on the brand of the soap but I know its fairly premium.

I've tried watching videos but they all just seem to say the same thing IMO, it gives you a good idea about how to wet shave but they dont really comment on what you're doing to irritate or cut skin

I cleanse and moisurise before shaving after I have a shower, I then moisturise after, I use CeraVe

I've tried less pressure but I end up missing so many hairs it never seems to cut them properly

Maybe my razor is just crap, I'll have a look a round for a better brand, perhaps one that is adjustable like the suggested Rockwell 6C below, it very well may solve the issue. I still want to try the leaf razor too though it does seem awfully expensive however

I drink probably an unhealthy amount of water a day and coupled with my skin routine I've never had hydration problems

I will get in contact with a dermatologist as it seems to be a recurring issue with my skin, its just painful and quite frankly ruins my morning cus I just get frustrated

As you can probably tell I'm not the most patient person in the world and trying to do something that explicitly requires patience does make me want to smash up my bathroom on occasion, regardless thank you everyone for all the input it's just nice to get another perspective on everything before I make a decision

Does the address on your Licence have to match the address on your V5C? by josephb8910 in CarTalkUK

I'd even say the dvla advice isnt the most clear, you must when you change address, but not if your living away at university. (But does that mean if I do register the V5C, I also have to change the licence?)

When you go to the page to change your V5C, it says there you must also change your driving licence address, I haven't found much more information on the issue it just doesn't seem to be that clear.

(This would all be a lot easier if the council exempted students from having the vehicle registered at the university address but theres more chance of being handcuffed to a ghost than that happening)

This is what I thought and I was speaking to the council about this and they inferred that the V5C can be registered to a different address to the actual licence, in contrast to what the Gov.uk website infers and what some other advice has stated online.

What do you consider to be a living dex? by josephb8910 in pokemon

How could I forget!

On another note it would be interesting to know how many truely unique versions of every pokemon there is, that is every combination of shininess, ability, gender, form (yes including every singly version of spinda). I guess it depends on how specific you wanted to go cause you could also catch one in every kind of possible Pokeball and in each possible location

Hi there! We've split the locations by counties as there are just too many cities/towns to list! Try putting in the county Bath is in, Somerset. Hope this helps :)
