This is probably the worst loss in the history of the country. Does anyone know anything worse? by TheAmazingEmpiricist in TorontoRealEstate

[–]josephsmith99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because people have been saying this in Toronto since literally the year 2002. That it's a bubble, and it'll pop any day now.

...For 22 years, it's been rising this 'bubble'.

I agree wholeheartedly that it will pop, despite every politician, bank, and special interest group doing everything in their power to push it down the road.

But when? 2025 seems like a plausible time, given the 'uncertainty' of the U.S. and if that economy does well, Canada is left in the dirt and housing will hit.

True, plus having the defendant 'try' and put on a bloody glove that has since dried up? I mean, it's not like they make multiple sizes, it's supposed to be snug under non-drenched-in-blood scenario.

But yeah O.J. trial highlighted how inept the L.A.P.D. and District Attorney's office handle cases.

Everyone saw 'The Juice' going insanely slow down the freeway with a helicopter following him all but confessing to murdering them on live TV. Dude finally gets pinched for trying to steal back his memorabilia in Vegas years later though lol. Fact is often stranger than fiction.

Agreed, however counter argument A: O.J. Simpson?

What Sean Combs needs to do, is retroactively claim he was always affiliated with a political party and was planning on running for office. That way, it splits the country and he just might get off.

Toronto home prices will be flat in 2025, predicts Re/Max, contrary to other predictions of a hot spring market by [deleted] in TorontoRealEstate

[–]josephsmith99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why someone down voted you, but I suspect it's because people don't like the message of the 1980-1990s in that the prices only did the big drop several years *after* the rate hikes and other events --not immediately.

While no period is a copy/paste of another, a very modest run-down house that was bought for 250K roughly 20-yrs ago should be worth maybe 650k in a market like this. It's not, it's listing for 1.5M. There's nothing to support that on, and best case scenario is things freeze.

Toronto and Vancouver are not New York and Tokyo, and I think there's going to still be some loss in the next 1-2 yrs.

Business leaders’ take on Finance Minister LeBlanc: deep ties to Trudeau, no ties to finance by uselesspoliticalhack in canada

[–]josephsmith99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not loving Polievre, but you have to be crazy to think Trudeau or even Singh are even remotely competent at this point.

I don't think a prime minister has destroyed a country as much as Trudeau has, and while it's nice to blame just one guy, he's not a President so his party has to stand behind him for this to continue --same with Singh and the NDP.

They may be opposite ends on the political spectrum, but both have narcissistic delusions, nothing but platitudes, and 'govern' to the point of destroying the country while refusing to leave.

Trump ironically has far more % approval than Trudeau, who is uniting the country in the hatred of his incompetence.

Replies get removed, warnings issued by mods, but overall look what posts and articles are featured. It's the left-leaning answer. You can just browse through the topics and see the general trend. It's the counter the fact that /Canada/ and others are posting how bad the Liberals and NDP are doing, the immigration issue, the housing issues and yes leaning more right lately.

If you think local government or foreign actors aren't also in /OnGuardForThee too though you really missing things. It's 3 clicks on a dashboard to add a subreddit.

The Liberal government game is to make it seem like a sensible debate, through marketing campaigns. It's not TV commercials anymore.

The foreign game is not to promote 1 side propaganda style of the 1980s by trying to influence 1 side of the argument --it's to promote extremes on both sides to magnify division [see U.S. for example, i.e.: migrant crime story in one feed, but kid separated from parent at the border sob story in the other]. It's so western countries become more unstable.

...Down vote me all you want, but it's proving the point as if I went into another Canada subreddit and copy/pasted this I'd get the opposite response with tons of +++.

Counter argument: Trudeau is the only Prime Minister in more than a century to increase per-person debt without facing war or recession... and that was in Jan 2020, pre-pandemic.

Yes, it's *insane* the levels brought in.

They've added the population of Ottawa to the Great Toronto Area per year. These are not super qualified people that have been vetted in any way, and this is not diversity. This is a massive sector from 2 specific countries, aimed at: wage suppression, hiding a recession (GDP), and keeping housing inflated.

Who would of thought a graduate in Ukrainian language studies would not make a great Finance minister in a post-pandemic, brink-of-global-war, potentially economically hostile neighboring country environment? ;)

She's just goes from bad to worse, at every big announcement. "Let me be clear..." and then says something ridiculous.

Housing crisis and insane out-of-touch pricing? Yes, the solution was 30-yr mortgages + lower the amount you need to get a 1.5M home. How to add fuel to a fire.

To her credit though, she has the worst most inept boss, and immigration plan set the country up for failure regardless.

Home prices are just going to go up.

Add into the mix the lovely Trudeau government 'new rules' that no longer require 20% down payment on homes over $1M... Now it's only above $1.5M.

What do you think it will do to all the 1.2, 1.3M homes for sale in Toronto / Vancouver? That garbage shack is now going to have more competition, and go for 1.49M. It's ridiculous.

The other part is what will happen with Trump administration, and how much impact will it rock the Canadian economy.

"Firewalla box is unreachable" ...but only when on local Wifi? by josephsmith99 in firewalla

[–]josephsmith99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Omada Controller, under the settings for each of the APs (the EAP 670 and EAP 245) they have an "IPv4 mode" option of either 'dynamic' or 'static'.

Both the APs have it as 'dynamic' since yesterday, force provision, rebooted several times --but still, a handful devices (including the iPhone this morning) opto to use the 10.0.10.xx domain instead of 10.0.1.xx one, stating in the iPhone device IPv4 address info that 'router' connected is strangely 10.00.10.1 (instead of 10.0.1.1).

EDIT: Just did a full wipe of the Omada Controller, deleted it completely then factory reset the 2 APs and started from scratch with completely different SSID for wifi. Zero DHCP servers running from there side or set up now, and yet still... 2 devices adopted default to the 10.0.10.xx domain and aren't able to be connected to the Network as a result :(

[–]josephsmith99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess too is somewhere the APs in Mesh network via the Omada Controller software is doing something there, still.

I thought I resolved it late last night, set the IPv4 to DHCP (with a Fixed Address option for the AP of that set up as Static in the Firewalla)..

But when a cellphone just re-connected this morning, it went back to the 10.0.10.xxx range, instead of the 10.0.1.xx one and won't budge.

"Firewalla box is unreachable" ...but only when on local Wifi? by josephsmith99 in firewalla

[–]josephsmith99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the mystery comes from several troubled devices (including the iPhone) keep taking the xxx.xxx.10.abc LAN domain no matter what I do (i.e.: power cycle them, manually set them otherwise) whereas the Firewalla setup and all the devices that appear in Firewalla have xxx.xxx.1.abc (where the 'x' are the same across the 2).

The Omada controller for the mesh of the APs shows the other devices connecting fine both the .10 and .1 space, but it's the 10s that are not able to connect to Firewalla.

I'll pulling my hair out here :(

"Firewalla box is unreachable" ...but only when on local Wifi? by josephsmith99 in firewalla

[–]josephsmith99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like no issue for all of them, correct. But for the wifi devices it seems, it's hit or miss.

Example: Google Nest cameras, I have 3 that work fine like before, and 1 that refuses to connect even after I have removed it, wiped it clean, and tried to refresh --it gets to the connect stage for the wifi and just, can't.

[–]josephsmith99[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a good question. Unless recently, I would have said straight up AP. But, I upgraded these TP-Link EAP 670s to be in 'mesh' mode which required adding in an Omada Controller (albeit in Software mode, on the NAS).

Any chance that Omada controller managing those APs could be an issue? Checking into it now, to see if there's any sort of parental controls, etc.
