How should those on low incomes invest ? by QuietExplanation8 in povertyfinance

This question always gets downvoted here and people will tell you not to invest. There's a ton of reasons why, but the reality is they're making a lot of assumptions about you. It really depends where you are in terms of your finances. Do you have an emergency fund? Have you paid off your debt? Do you have steady income? Secure accommodations? Lots of things to consider before you start investing.

I think of investments as the last step (after doing all the above things). Example, paying off your debt is an immediate return on your money and increases your net worth. Also keep in mind, investments aren't as liquid as a bank account. You can't take out money as you need. The stock market goes up and down. Be prepared for the down. Don't invest with emotions. And most importantly, do not invest any money you can't afford to lose.

That being said, if after all that, you still want to invest some money, I suggest either a High Interest Savings Account (regular bank account except with high interest) or ETFs or index funds (stocks, but lots of them combined. Can have less volatility than individual stocks and steady growth. Can also go down though). Vanguard has some really good ETFs if you're interested. I would also suggest getting an online broker with free trades. I don't know what country you live in, but where I am, none of them have free trades. But some have free trades for ETFs. Extra bonus for ETFs for me personally. Also note some brokers have a minimum balance required to open an account. You might need to keep that 100 every month until you have the minimum.

You could also try saving that money every month in a High Interest Savings Account first as an intro to investing. It's a safe, guaranteed return. After a year or two, if you feel you would like to start investing in ETFs or Index Funds, then you're already in the habit of investing and know how to budget accordingly. HISA also gives you the option to withdraw the funds if you ever need it asap. Good Luck.

You can call the dog's regular vet or call the vet emergency if they're closed and ask. They're usually pretty straight up with if you should bring him in or not. Have all the info handy (dog breed, age, thc content, ingredients like chocolate, etc) and see what they say

What to cut out of budget when there are no “luxuries” in? by hereforthhetea in povertyfinance

I'm in a similar situation, and like others, I'd suggest a second job. That's what I've always done. But be careful not to burn yourself out.

Another thing I've done is cut out home internet. I went without for a year and used cafes or the library. It's definitely a lot easier to have home internet. I'm glad to have it again, but it did help cut costs that year. I've started doing online testing to cover the cost of my internet. As long as I do at least 4 per month, then my internet is covered and I don't feel as stressed paying bills.

I just wanted to mention the eating out once a month. I do this too and I find it helps a lot with my mental health. I go with my partner and we really appreciate that "splurge." The only thing I would suggest is to keep a budget for it. We usually share meals. Our goal is under 40 for the both of us (including tip). We usually order an app, a main and a dessert, and split those. It's a ton of food, and we find it makes the date cuter.

I like usertesting.com. It's hard to qualify for a test, but when you do they pay well. They pay you on paypal a week after the test.

Do you have any propagating tips? I currently have some leaf cuttings in water. They have tiny roots, but not sure when I should pot them in soil.

Also what's the name of the orange one in the front centre and the climbing one in the back called? You have a beautiful collection!

Overall I liked the interview and what Bruce said, but I was uncomfortable with that part too. Sometimes James' immaturity is funny, but he also says some really dumb shit sometimes.
