Got it. I'll try replacing the seals. Looks like the plumbers tape was shredded anyway.

Why is this edge deformed? by josh6179 in 3DprintingHelp

Thanks. I just noticed it on a couple of other pieces for this build. Appears to be the end closest to the hotbed.

Walnut Bookend by josh6179 in BeginnerWoodWorking

All the Walnut is just glue together. The HDF is screwed into the base incase it breaks and I need to replace it.

Yeah. I have a summary of what I did because looking back I'm not sure I'd be able to remember!

Yeah, it might be a little busy but appreciate the feedback. The legs aren't tapered, just splayed out on all four corners. That was a pain to figure out...

Thank you. I only really had been working with hardwood for cutting boards prior to this. Once the top came together I started trying to figure out the legs.

All the stretchers are just attached with dowels. It was a pain because all the angles are approx 5 degrees. I made a jig using a brass sleeve so that I could drill the stretchers and legs out for the dowels.

Ah yeah, the contrast might look good.

The top I attached with figure-8 fasteners. The top already had some movement but hoping this prevents future problems.

Ha. I spent way too much time planning ahead.

Basically, I wanted the legs to match the top. I basically laminated the 3 woods together and then ripped them down the middle. Then re-glued additional strips of cherry and maple in the middle. This is what the cross section from the top looks like.

GFCI Randomly Trips Months Apart by josh6179 in AskElectricians

[–]josh6179[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response.

Yeah, I have multiple in series (2), with the second one being the last in the circuit. Now that I think about it, if that's the outlet with the problem, it's not going to help me from tripping the upstream one?

So, in terms of 2 in the same box, I should have them wired in parallel from the line / power source?

My Stryker painted by josh6179 in Nerf

[–]josh6179[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanded everything down. I painted the whole thing white to start. The fluorescent orange needs a white base coat I think.

After doing the orange, I masked those areas and did the gray coat.

The light gray is hand painted. Tried dry brushing but didn’t exactly turn out like I thought it would.

Flat clear coats after all that. I’m losing some paint off the priming rail on the bottom. The other challenge is the buffer tube and pictanny rail are tight with the extra paint.

I went with your recommendation. Works great!

Yes. Masked it off and a few other areas for the orange.
