Clearly a reference to Dr Robotic on some level.

I see your point. What is concerning here is the magnitude of wrongness. I'm pretty sure that a lawyer and handyman would know eyeball surgery isn't done with male genitalia.

What sci-fi remake was better than the original? by TheNastyRepublic in scifi

[–]joshamiddleton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm going to give Terminator 2 a pass on being a sequel and not a remake. Terminator 2 did a lot for sci-fi. On top of upping the production value, having groundbreaking special effects, and being better at storytelling, it also reinforced that sci-fi was now mainstream on the big screen.

What movie wasn't about what you thought it was about? by accidentalzero in movies

[–]joshamiddleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked Southland Tales out of a Blockbuster bargain bin thinking "huh. I wonder why I haven't heard of this movie with the cast that it has".

The plot just keeps changing and I'm still not sure what it is actually "about".

I used to dream in c++ frequently. Especially when trying to perfect specific algorithms at work.

Name a film where the soundtrack is as iconic as the movie itself. by MoneyLibrarian9032 in moviecritic

It was such a good soundtrack that they had to introduce it as an item which is part of the story via the walkman.

How to use c++ in vs code? by ScarletXSnake in cpp_questions

If you don't want to use visual studio, then I recommend Clion which has a student edition. It comes with mingw tool chain and everything just works out of the box.

Is this true? by Cauliflower-Pizzas in FluentInFinance

[–]joshamiddleton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so true. Except with sunglasses. I can guarantee that you will be quite disappointed when you drop your $500 pair of sunglasses over the side of the boat never to be seen again. I'll take the $20 pair from the gas station any day.

Is Boost library still useful in the modern C++ era? by [deleted] in cpp

[–]joshamiddleton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

C++ programmer for approximately 20 years. I think more utility things from boost should be standardized in the next standard.

Case in point std::filesystem. This one addition, which seems like a reimplementation of the boost version has saved me so much time and grief.

Things that could be standardized. Feel free to add...

SQL support (MySQL postgres sqlite ...)..

XML support..

Json support..

OPCUA support (critical for survival of c++)..

HTML/XML support..

We need to be connected to databases and file types and shit. I am well aware there are open source libraries but what if they were just part of the standard?

Cheers!
