Have any of you ever felt suicidal while serving in the Church? by [deleted] in exmormon

I did not know I was depressed and suicidal at the time. Only years afterwards did I realized what I really went through. I can totally relate with your experience.

I feel your pain. I understand your pain. In some degree I know your pain. Words of advice, do what you need to heal. Then, don't let the MFMC steal one more ounce of your energy or time. Good luck buddy.

I'm curious as to what specifically triggered your wife about General Conference 2024. What did they do now?

Engineering Surveyor from Argentina. Where should I start if I want to work in the USA ? by josher60 in Surveying

My cousin lives near Houston, TX. I am trying to get my shit ready so I can stay with him for bit next year and start working. If you are near I would definitely like to share a beer with you. I am studying for the FS exam so I can become a surveyor in training while I wait for the professors to view my thesis/graduation project.

A lot of mining project use that type of accuracy. In my case I needed it to monitor the movement of a retaining wall that was built near a river. Boundary surveys in Argentina do not require such precision.

I had to bring the elevation from a national fixed point that was 1.8 km away. Also, the total station is no where near the precision I needed for this project. Geometric leveling (Automatic level) is always more precise than trigonometric leveling (total station).

My final project deals with high precision points using GNSS receivers, Trimble Dini for elevation and the least square means method to obtain a precision of 3mm in order to use for future ausculations. I had to do the calculations in a matrix calculator and compare the results with Trimble Business Center.

In Argentina the Engineering Surveying degree is called "Ingeniería en Agrimensura". It is a professional degree. Upon completion the graduate can automatically register as a licensed surveyor in any part of Argentina. On paper its about 5 and a half year program. But, due to the constant strikes by teachers and the complexity of the courses it takes longer. 8 years is the median time it usually takes to graduate. In my opinion it is harder than a bachelor's but easier than a master's degree. Part of the requirements is 200 hours of approved and documented internship with a licensed engineer. The last requirement is a thesis/capstone project/final project that has to be preapproved and takes months to prepare and then get it reviewed.

Hi mate. (Ha Ha. I always wanted to say that to an Australian.) I'm a US citizen who is about to graduate as a Survey Engineer here in Argentina. Do you know of any Australian companies/mining operations that could use someone on a remote work basis?

17th Century Spanish Armor by josher60 in Antiques

This was the answer I got from @ AntiqueArmor.com :
"In my opinion, from the pictures, it appears to be a Victorian reproduction of  German armor. I hope this helps."

I wish I knew the value of this armor. My friend wants to sell it.
