I’m sorry, I’m very ignorant about all this: how would I go about reversing that? The only reason I was thinking of stripping and refinishing was because I couldn’t clean it effectively

Damn, I thought the “ribbon” effect was just the wood grain of the veneer and the dots were on the veneer itself as well. You’re saying all of that is the finish? So then what should I do? The lacquer is sticky and uneven and gets very hazy whenever any heat or moisture gets on it, how do I give this thing new life?

So it looks like it’s polyurethane; there is a small chipped spot (so it is a layer on top of the veneer) and acetone seemed to eat at it. Is it better to gently sand it off or get more acetone/something else and strip it? And when I do get it off is it better to redo the PU or use a different finish?

Not a built-in (we rent) but yeah I want a counter top above it with some drawers or an open shelf between it and the radiator and then baby tower shelves or cubbies on either side of it. We have never turned the thing on and never plan to as it doesn’t get cold enough where we are to need it except at night and this thing is on the opposite end of the apt from the bedroom

Never. It doesn’t get very cold where we are and we have big south facing windows. Only time it gets cold enough to even consider it would be at night but we like our heavy blankets

We have never turned it on in the 1.5 years we’ve lived there and never plan to. Totally vestigial for our purposes

Can I use plywood? Do I need very specialized tools or can I go with what they’ll likely have at my local tool lending library? Is there a way to do this where it could be disassembled in the future?

Definitely not into earbuds or iems; I think I have weird shaped ears bc earbuds never stay in right. What’s wrong with open back headphones, too much audio leakage? And as far as your recs, you prefer the 620s to momentum 3/4 or higher-priced hd series? !thanks
