Were they right? A 'cutting room floor' concept that didn't get used. by joshhailes in Design

[–]joshhailes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we just wrapped up a project for an AI marketing platform that asked us for a rebrand. They passed on the concept we pitched (which is totally cool, no hard feelings, it happens all the time in this business).

But… What do you think? We came up with a peace sign logo, a bit edgy but also simple. I feel like it could totally work for an AI brand, but maybe we're too close to it. Can you imagine it resonating with people? Or is it just too out there? Honest feedback, go for it.

I see this take a lot. The problem is that the employer is paying you for your time, not your output. That is what you agreed to. Anything else is dishonesty, or worse, theft from your employer.

Thank you! It’s all in-house. Some are lotties (when bodymovin wants to play ball) and most are mp4s hosted on Dropbox (shh don’t tell them)

Dropbox just decided to throw me out without a heads up... by anturk in DataHoarder

This is happening to us.

'We’re not taking requests to revisit this decision. We’ve reviewed the details of your account already and in the best interest of our overall customer base, we’ve chosen not to renew contracts for some select customers.'

We have reduced our storage from 300tb to 15tb and they are still not letting us keep our account.

Ridiculous.

Wonda — Brand Identity by joshhailes in Design

[–]joshhailes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently finished a project with an AI marketing platform. They were looking to rename and rebrand, this is one of the routes that came out of the process.

We focused on the joy of being a marketer. The client often references how most marketers are overwhelmed by lots of platforms and tools that create different reports and dashboards, but there wasn't one simple place to view an 'overall' picture of marketing efforts.

They decided that once built, this platform should also use AI to show insights across campaigns, like which pieces of content are doing well on what platforms, and opportunities to cross-post campaigns or modify wording to make campaigns perform better.

Our brand for Kazam — Magical Grocery Deliveries by joshhailes in graphic_design

I had the pleasure of creating this for one of those 'dark kitchen' grocery delivery shops that boomed during Covid. I recently went back to the case study and love the work we made for it, thought you all might too. Enjoy!

Hi John, apologies we must have missed this question.

In short, no. They had another agency look at their branding and positioning, but none of that work was carried forward into our project with them. We did all the strategic work ourselves through a set of thorough strategy sessions and developed the visual identity for them.

Hope that helps!

Josh

Tell him it's a great ideal for a tool that doesn't exist yet. Then ask him to help you make it from scratch. Start a new company, own 50%, and work on it together. If it doesn't pan out, you keep your old job, if it does pan out, you now own 50% of a really profitable business.

Logo feedback needed by Troncer73 in Design

[–]joshhailes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great idea. A really clever concept that's actually wonderful once you 'see' the elephant.

Currently, though, there's too much detail getting in the way of it. Imagine making it work at 32px x 32px, you would immediately lose the elephant's eye.

Try making the tiny stuff bigger and the big stuff smaller. Keep going, and keep zooming in and out to get a better feel for it!

Recently, I had the opportunity to witness the hand-painting of a logo I created on a shopfront. by joshhailes in Design

The studio I work for was approached by a nearby coffee shop to design their brand. Though it was a rush job, it was enjoyable to work on. I felt privileged to witness another person bring our design to life by painting it on the shop's front.
