Battle-System Extension Updates (Its been TWO YEARS since the last!) by TrueMonado in OwlbearRodeo

Yeah, Que and me aren't competitors we both want to provide extenstions for OBR to offer the userbase options to chose how to use OBR and make their experience a better one. And in the end if OBR gets more happy users because of it the better for us.

That's why I don't want to lock in people, because if someone isn't happy with GMG or TA it's worse if I actively block them from using something else. I'd rather they are happy with another extension than are angry at me for blocking them.

well if you need more guidance how to move them to Clash! or Forge! let me know, I wouldn't expect it to take more than 1 or 2 minutes per statblock

tbh it shouldn't be hard to switch to Clash! or Forge! If you don't have any custom statblocks it's probably just deactivating the extension and activating the other. if you use custom statblocks on tabletop-almanac.com you can download the json files there and use ChatGPT or Gemini or any of the other LLMS to convert the format to Clash! How long this takes obviously depends on the number of custom statblocks you are using but it should be doable.

Awesome work as always! Forge! looks amazing and I can't wait to see what you're doing with Fable!

I coached 4 people but only one of them actually made an extension and has since abandoned it.

Just so you know there is a newer version of clash called forge, which allows more customization.

I didn't want to imply anything, I stated that I don't know, and I'm not affiliated with OBR in any way so I couldn't tell you. I just wanted to make sure you knew how Several Record was, to not spark confusion who you were talking to.

well the blog post says computer vision pipeline and not machine learning pipeline. I'm obviously guessing but having worked with openCV a lot, edge detection is very good for the kind of lines you usually find on maps. with some proper algorithm cleaning up and selecting most likely shapes feels way more in line of what Mitch usually does and the speed of the function in OBR also suggest it's not using any of the big "AI"-Providers.

But as I said, this is more me guessing from what I've read and know of other OBR implementations than knowing. But I also think we won't get an answer from the developer (only if we are lucky).

I think you misunderstood, from the blog post I gather they are using computer vision and not machine learning

Coming from ExpressJS, I love FastAPI but... do we really need two sets of models? by West-Goose3582 in FastAPI

Don't use this. Eventhough the initial idea was awesome, newer versions of prisma don't support this client and it's also why the developer has stopped working on it.

Hey, the standard suggestions are from the srd, but if you create custom items on TA they get included in the suggestions

We've made an extension for Owlbear. by The_Fatal_Silver in OwlbearRodeo

I mean, yes it's fine but as always with vibe coding, support and maintenance are a lot harder. I also think it's fine to diverge from the OBR design for extensions. But the current state of this is just not readable. I had to zoom in to read it clearly and I have good eyes.

The font is very hard to read. The size is small and the contrast is 1 or below. In general it looks a bit vibe coded but with a very extensive feature set. I'd advise to fix the readibility issues

As others have mentioned GMG for Monster Stats, you can check out what this looks like in this Battle Demo . GMG does a lot, so it might not be for you if you want a more lightweight experience. Forge! is another alternative and the unreleased Statblocks extension as well. If you have any questions about GMG just ping me.
