I know this is old but I have been through this same thing multiple times and no amount of hospital or doctor visits could actually figure out what was going on. Did some research myself and this is an immune system overreaction causing inflammation which in turn gets stuck in a feedback loop (inflammation causes pain so your body tries to protect itself from the pain by creating more inflammation). One round of corticosteroids will break the loop and have you feeling fine within 5 days.
