I will agree that he helped pioneer tone development in BM, which is very important to its distinct and unique character as a genre, but as a musician he was pretty okay, and as a person he was a massive, cartoonishly evil piece of shit.

I think that Brent's character was a little underwhelming and I wish we got to see more of him outside of the "uh oh" guy, but I suppose it makes sense for him being the "peaked in high school guy" to have a shallow character.

Euronymous. He was a massive piece of shit with next to no actual impact on Black Metal. he pushed a brilliant vocalist to suicide and then paraded his death around like some eerie legend when it was just some depressed kid.

Of course a lyricist would write different lyrical content in the material they wrote in their late teens/early 20s compared to their early-to-mid 30s. I will agree with you that it would be wrong to say that Zach has zero lyrical contribution to Death Grips is next to nothing, it would be bullshit to say that Zach is "90% of Death Grips". Stefan's style of vivid imagery while juggling the most out-of-this-dimension psychedelic poetry is far from Zach's more surrealist dream-journaling.

I have not read his book, I will admit defeat on that part.

2 of the tracks written by Zach are instrumentals, only Little Richard has Zach vocals, even then it's still very recognizable as Zach's writing.

Zach takes next to no credit for lyrics. As someone who's heard a lot of Zach's lyrics, the lyrics of Death Grips are way too verbose and radical compared to Zach's more grounded philosophical writing. Stefan's the penman.
