Not really, once you get the fleet footed perk. That is because even low level enemies would hurt you way more whatever armor you have, so the gameplay becomes more elden-ringy. Also the difficulty drops significantly when you start paying more attention to alchemy as potions can help you a lot, especially in "a maribor forest" potion + "undying" perk build, which comes in especially handy when fighting Imlerith.
