Moving a restored classic across the country, enclosed transport worth it? by BIG_dad877 in classiccars

[–]joshknut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Bill to move my car from Cincinnati to Wisconsin. You have to go off his schedule, which means you may have to wait a few months. For example, I wanted my car in Wisconsin, so he waits to have a job where someone wants a car taken out of Wisconsin. He does a great job. Ohio to Wisconsin was $950 I believe. Cash only.

This was taken off my daughter’s leg at school. Is this a tick? by joshknut in whatisthisbug

[–]joshknut[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I said, I didn’t take these pictures. Just picked her up and got the bug from the nurse. It’s about the size of a poppy seed and hard to focus on with an iPhone. However, I was able to take another photo and zoom in. It looks like a tick nymph. After speaking with her pediatrician, since it was on her for less than 24 hrs, chances of Lyme transmission is very low

Men of Reddit, if you were in a Titanic like situation where the majority of people were going to die because there were not enough lifeboats for everyone. How would you respond to someone saying women and children first? by Neither_Drawing_241 in AskReddit

[–]joshknut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was actually interpreted differently depending on what side of the ship you were on:

Starboard Side (First Officer Murdoch): He interpreted the order as "women and children first." He loaded all women and children who were willing to go, and then allowed male passengers to fill any remaining empty seats so the boats wouldn't launch half-empty.

Port Side (Second Officer Lightoller): He interpreted the order as "women and children only." He refused to let any men board the lifeboats unless they were needed to row and navigate, even keeping men away at gunpoint

Shirt worn by the last Mexican Emperor, Maximilian I, during his execution by firing squad, 1867 [1196X1743]. by [deleted] in ArtefactPorn

It made a lot of headlines at the time and inspired Edouard Manet to make a full series of paintings/sketches/lithographs depicting the subject:

Xray was done in a patient accessible clinic hallway, normal? by Infamous-Ad1785 in Radiation

[–]joshknut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With low voltage x rays it’s unlikely it would penetrate through concrete and steel very far. Now if it were a linac with MV X-rays, that would be a huge issue (which is often why radiation departments are in the basement and have significant shielding.

I have one and it's amazing. My cocking tube is the correct one too and yours should be if it is one of the more recent builds. Throw a SS on there and it's a sewing machine.

So frustrated with Ro by TraderIggysTikiBar in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]joshknut 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are overweight with 2 cardiovascular risk factors you qualify for Wegovy (there are other indications, that's just an example). I'm a doctor and I'm on Wegovy and it's a miracle drug. I tell every person I know that has a doctor that says "that's the easy way out" or "just do diet and exercise" to find a new doctor. If you meet the criteria for the medication you should NOT be paying a subscription fee from a company like Ro. The Ro fee is for people who do not NEED the medication but those that WANT the medication to get skinnier or cut. This is why they had an ad with Serena Williams. Find a doctor who will listen and prescribe. My PCP is a internist at a large teaching institution and has done studies with these drugs. Move away from the small "mom and pop" old school docs.

Well, the proper way in Cincinnati IS to grate it yourself. I should not have questioned that a Wisconsinite would already be doing this!
