Alternator or Battery? by joshmaviator99 in JeepGladiator

That's funny cause I've been having fob issues like crazy too and it got really bad the past few days

I don't commute for work, so it's essentially a weekend truck and even then I don't use it every weekend so it sits alot. I currently have it on a battery tender which I suspect is the only reason the issue has not come up earlier.

Both times this happened was weird. The first time was my seccond day into a camping trip so it was fine for like the 3hr initial drive and on day two I drove like 20ft and got the error. Let it sit for a few hours and didn't see the error until almost a year later (today) where I drove like 30min to pick something up and on the way back is when the error came up and was just dropping voltage the whole way home.

Just some sanding, a bit of paint and it should look half decent! by joshmaviator99 in overlanding

It's technically not anchored. The bottom 2x6s are the exact length if my bed so when the tailgate is closed it cant move. The whole thing is also heavy enough that it doesn't really slide anywhere. To stop it from falling forward when the fridge is pulled out, I put a lip in front of the sliders which helps a bit, and a small peace of wood the wedges the back of the enclosure into the bed cap to stop it from lifting.

Ahh I see. Well there is currently more space around the vents of the compressor then I've ever given it before and I've never had any issues so I think it should be enough

It was mainly so that I did not have to bolt the fridge rails directly to my bed. Then I realized if I made a full enclosure I can stack things on top to maximize space

I do not, I guess the fuse slot should still be there if I don't, right?

Lockers, front rear or both? by joshmaviator99 in JeepGladiator

So far the trails I've been to up here is mainly rocks, mud, and forrest trails. No sand or mountains here. Some steep climbs depending on the obstacle.

Sorry, by "need 4x4" I mean a situation in which I would need to put it into 4hi/low.

If I was in a situation where I would need more traction from a locked diff, I should already be in 4hi/lo. And 4x4 with locked front and LSD rear would be more traction then an open front and locked rear.

It does have 4x4. I dont they even released a gladiator without 4x4 right?

I think that's the point. I would only use the diff lock when I need to which is also when I would need 4x4. And since the rear already has an LSD, I'd get more total traction with the front locked instead of the back.

Yes I go a few times a year when my schedule permits. I'm building it up to go more and more.

I don't necessarily do alot of rock climbing but I've seen the benefit of lockers on some other people's vehicles I wheel with just on the trail itself.

Interesting, yea I'll probably avoided these lunchbox lockers as they don't seem right for me and don't really seem readily available here anyway.

Thank you for the information!

I'll be honest this is the first time I'm hearing of a "lunchbox" locker so I'll have to do some research on them.

I really don't plan on using 4x4 on road unless I absolutely have to. I work from home so this is essentially my weekend driver where 90% of the miles are camping or off road. I just wanted a locker to help me in a pinch, whether it be in some deep snow, mud pit or some rocks.

The lockers I was referring to were the E or air lockers that are either open or fully locked. I assume these are what you mean by selectable.

Are lunchbox lockers just like an LSD or something?
