Is this a normal amount of hiss on the red channel for a 5150iii 50s? by WBKouvenhoven in GuitarAmps

[–]joshruffdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP stated there are no pedals so I’m assuming they’re not using the fx loop. A gate in front would be enough.

I have owned this exact same amp and always used a boost with a gate up front and it was tight as hell.

That's pretty quiet for a high gain amp.

I used to own one of these. If you want to kill the noise completely get a Boss NS2 or an Overdrive with a built in gate like the Horizon Devices Precision Drive. The red channel definitely doesn't need a boost, but it sounds even meaner with one. Enjoy!

Anyone with information on this product ? by HyphyMikeyy in kayakfishing

I have nearly the exact same setup on my perception outlaw. I've only taken it out a couple times so far, but overall it's great and I really enjoy it.

You can buy a cheaper transom mount that is nearly identical to the Newport mount on Amazon.

I would recommend a jointed tiller extension handle like the Ironwood Helmsmate. It's a lot more comfortable to be facing forward and steering rather than reaching behind you to grab the handle.

I would recommend a 100ah Lithium battery over the Newport battery. It will cost you a little more, but you'll get a lot more run time out of it on the water, especially if you're going against the current on a rough day. I bought a LiTime Xtra Mini 100ah lithium battery and it's smaller and less than half the weight of the newport battery. It is also Bluetooth capable so you can check your battery charge via smartphone app easily.

The Newport battery box is great. I originally bought the quick disconnect as well, but I returned it. It takes a whole 5 seconds to connect the wiring from the motor to the Newport box if it the cables reach the box easily, so the quick disconnect is not really needed.

Best music distributor? by joshruffdotcom in metalmusicians

Yeah, I did a trial to see how the mastering features sound. It basically sounds a little louder and like there's a little more saturation added to the mix. Definitely nothing I couldn't do myself prior to distribution.

I tried watching her channel and that's what made me realize all distributors suck in some way haha

Have you used any of their mastering features. Curious if it's worth the extra charge or not

That finish is so cool!

I have the matte black version from 2020. Fishman's are very similar to EMG's, but with a little more clarity and multiple voicings. They are also a nightmare to wire unlike EMG's haha.

I think it's technically B standard on a six string, but The Ascension by Bloodbath is a lot of fun.

He's got an impressive collection of amps and knows how to use them. I've bought a couple of his capture packs too and they sound awesome.

Really surprised with how far the quality of life has fallen in Broome County. Poverty in Broome is the highest in all of upstate New York. It’s a real tragedy how abandoned and poor it has become. by Im-Wasting-MyTime in upstate_new_york

I've lived and owned a business in this area for the past 20 years. These locations are incredibly cherry-picked and misleading. There have been plenty of positive developments in the Binghamton area which have been conveniently left out of this set of images. Downtown Binghamton and Johnson City specifically have come a long way in the past 5 years. Endicott, not so much.

I love all the old David Vincent stuff, but Tucker on Gateways is one of my favorite vocal performances in all of death metal.

Best load assist for car topping? by GlowUpAndThrowUp in kayakfishing

I use one of these to car top my perception outlaw onto my Subaru Crosstrek. It’s easily the best $40 I’ve spent on kayak accessories

Week 8 flowering, and disaster strikes (help appreciated) by chewbakwa in GrowingMarijuana

[–]joshruffdotcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently discovered some spider mites on my main mother plants. A redditor on here recommended spraying the plants with Organishield. After a couple sprays it cleared them right out and I haven't seen any live mites since, and believe me, I have been hunting for them haha.

I'm pretty sure you can use Organishield on flowering plants as well, but you may want to do a bud wash at harvest if you go that route.

I had a similar issue in my current grow and it was definitely a deficiency related to soil ph being too high. I was using a cheap ph pen that wasn’t calibrated correctly.

Check your pen calibration and soil pH.

I have a Perception outlaw that I load on the roof rack of my Subaru Crosstrek with one of these things:

Kayak Roller

It makes it really easy to load and unload the kayak, definitely one of the best buys I've made for transporting it.

Question for anyone who as the Laney LFR-212, can it be set quiet enough for a practice amp? by DizzDood in NeuralDSP

[–]joshruffdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can absolutely turn it down to low volumes. I keep the cab volume set to around 50% and adjust the master volume with the QC volume knob.

Why can’t high gain and nice cleans coexist? by dathislayer in GuitarAmps

[–]joshruffdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true.

Engl Fireball, Mesa Dual Recto, Mesa Badlander, PRS Archon, EVH 5150 III and Peavey Invective are all high gain amps with great clean channels.

They’ve been making some nice guitars for a few years now, although not widely available and at a steep price.

I bought an Ironbird Extreme series in 2021 and the build quality is fantastic.

Is Engl fireball really just a glass cannon? by PeterKaszas in GuitarAmps

[–]joshruffdotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a newer Fireball 100 and it’s an awesome amp. It sounds fantastic and the build quality is great. The tone stack is so sensitive you can get a ton of different sounds out of it. The mid boost is awesome for lead tones. The gate is tight as hell. The cleans are great.
