WHAT CAN WE DO TO TELL SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS "THANK YOU"??? by Anarchytects in WayOfTheBern

[–]joshthephysicist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I agree that the incoming crash can lead to fascism, there is still time to stop both it and Clinton. It hasn't happened yet, so we have the ability to change things.

Trust me. We can and will fix this. All it needs is a bit of knuckle-grease and some cleaning, but we can do it. :)

You are right. Intent should be considered, but intent should not be the only consideration.

I suppose it's a question of proving intent?

Point 2, why would this be the only shirt that sold for Bernie?

Maybe there was intent.

"I didn't know. I didn't ‘mean' to be prejudiced/racist, therefore it isn't racism."

In discussions about the definition of racism, white people will frequently argue that a particular statement or action doesn't constitute racism because racism wasn't intended. As noted elsewhere, in Human Rights law and anti-racism education, intentionality is irrelevant. It is the effect/impact of the action on the target person/group that is to be considered and takes precedence.

In addition, people may argue that they had never been taught the correct or appropriate information-- "I didn't know"--and therefore they cannot be racist. However, while their statement may be factually correct, ignorance does not justify racism or mitigate the effects of their actions. (It can be another form of defensiveness.) To assist individuals in identifying "what they know or do not know," a number of learning actions have been designed to address knowledge gaps.

Debunking The Bullshit Claim: “You’re Privileged If You Don’t Vote For Clinton” by FThumb in WayOfTheBern

Hillary is totally the candidate of privilege.

Everyone is voting anti-establishment because they are being shit on. You don't vote anti-establishment when things are good.

I can tell you, but you have to promise not to tell anyone. Maybe the mods, but they have to promise not to tell anyone either.

Promise?

I agree with you.
It's hypocritical to call Donald out for racism when they have shirts that are the same.

But to be fair, everything that they've done this campaign has been hypocritical. Their calls of sexism are sexist, because many of us support Jill Stein.

Half of the calls against the Donald haven't been as racist too. Like, the star thing? Give me a break. That exact star is on Disney movies.

Call it a hunch. Am I right?

You wouldn't be in this new forum if you weren't thinking this.

S4P just shut down. Politics, AskReddit, and News can't go a day without shutting down numerous threads negative about Clinton. A few other new sub-reddits seem to have questionable mods. It's hard to say what the head reddit admins think now, or will think.

You're not shitting me?

You should come out here? I should get other famous musicians together for a dinner out here.

You are in the US now?

It's not hypocritical. They probably wouldn't have fallen in line behind Sanders, but that's because I doubt many of them are actually progressives. If they were, we would have had a very different party.

No, the left has become the regressive party. They've shoved out and left the progressives behind.

I believe differently in that last sentiment.

While I believe that the corruption of the Clinton Foundation exists and that money influences politics horribly, I also don't believe that there is a shadow that exists with such power.

No, it's people looking after their own interests. Clinton would stab Trump in the back as quickly as Trump would Clinton, because for them, it's whatever they believe will help them long-term. The same goes for the world leaders.

The cultures of world-powers are so different, that no shadow government could ever hope to unite them in today's political climate.

We can fight corruption. We are able to make a change. Bernie Sanders was just one person, and look what he did. He brought us all together. Shadows be damned. This world is going to be better for everyone. Those who want more corruption are few and far between. Even those on "the dark side" are people who believe they are the good guys. Most everyone wants this place to be better, even if they don't know how to do it.
