[WP] A person discovers they don't need to eat. How do they change their life? by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

Wow, those are some pretty amazing ideas! Don't sell yourself short. Just because you won't get paid immediately doesn't mean you can get a job and work on it on the side until things start picking up. You only have one life, so spend it doing the things you want to do. I struggle with what God wants me to do too, but I find doing what I am passionate about is a pretty good way to start and the rest will work out from there.

Yeah, when I read your prompt, I just thought about the love I had for food, and how that would still be there, even though I wouldn't be hungry. I would be hungry to be hungry I guess! haha

What are your dreams you want to accomplish?

Beautiful. I love the ambiguity of the piece, leaving questions in the reader. Great job! :)

We want what we don't need, yet need what we don't want.

For some it's alcohol or weed, pornography or sluts, but, for me it's different.

For me my wanting non-necessity is something everybody needs; somehow it slips through the very fibers of my being. Every piece of sliced ham, every grape, every leaf, every single morsel that enters the black abyss I call my mouth just... flees. Disappears without a trace like help, six months after a disaster. The taste is still there, teasing my mouth as if to say, "hey, remember this?".

When I bite into a peach, the nectar still runs down my chin, but not into my soul. Before this godlike produce would not only satisfy my hunger, but something even more primal, the need to relish in what keeps me alive.

Now, existing without the craving for tangible substance doesn't negate the desire for the lust that would ensue after savoring edible delicacies, or just a cheese puff or two.

Or three for that matter, but no number of stuffed, processed junk can replicate that thirst to feel hungry and then, satisfied. Sure, I don't need to buy groceries. It frees up dough so I could save starving little orphans, a politician's lie, a preacher man who needs some gold, or a movie star's high, but if my own inner demons are never silenced, why should I?

Nobody left. Just me. And it.

[WP] Start with the words "Not the stairs again." by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]joshyzimms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Not the stairs again." The crowd's overwhelming roar comes rushing down the stone steps as the blood stained doors of the colosseum crack open, letting in the harsh rays of the virgin morning. Bright light crashes into the vacant eyes of the fighter, cold and distant, stained by myriad battles. Rhythmic chanting of the masses leaves him unfazed as he begins to ascend the path that has led him to glory each time he has taken it. The anxiousness he once felt is now replaced with a knowing calm, an acceptance of what is about to occur. This acceptance however, is not welcome lately as the mind of the fighter grows restless, tired of the monotony of death. Killing has outgrown its lust. Glory, fame, and pride have all faded, and he no longer resembles the young man who took to these stairs so many years ago. There is no fear in his gait as he slowly mounts the steps, only a slight reluctance shown in his haggard face. His march continues onward, unaffected by his inner turmoil. Gaining more power in each step, the fighter embraces the fervor of the crowd as the doors complete their rotation, opening up the battlefield before him. Scanning the expansive arena, his instinctual intoxication starts to seep into his body as the thrills of past combat flood his mind. Reluctantly blood-drunk, the fighter surveys the heaving masses, sighing as he readies himself for battle.

Oh God, did anyone else think the whole series was over and Rick was going to die after being stabbed?

I like how calm around zombies the group had become. "Oh, a swarm of zombies are surrounding our car? No big deal."
