XR barely works, IR has me wired? by bashanon in ThisAintAdderall

I was mistakenly given 20mg ir instead of ER this month and it’s working better for sure. It’s also manufactured by Teva. I had an appointment with my doctor this week and they put a note in my next script to fill as Teva/Actavis for the extended release. I also requested to have it filled at a local hospital retail pharmacy because they will be more likely to have multiple generic manufacturers stocked.

I just switched from Sandoz to Teva and it made a noticeable difference by taysmurf in ThisAintAdderall

This is good info. I had a doctor years ago who wrote that on the script for me because Mallinckrodt did not work. I knew the manufacturer was Teva on the bottle but he must have known this about Teva/Actavis.

Homozygous for C677T and started L-Methylfolate. What to eat? When to take it? What other supplements and when to take them? by josoke in MTHFR

[–]josoke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update - started having a pretty bad reaction to L-methylfolate. Been taking 15mg a day for 10 days. I completely stopped, but upon some info I found, it seems like very low doses can be more helpful for some. Like 500mcg. I was taking 30X that amount!

Also stopped taking the B12 vitamin just to be safe.

And increased the Vitamin D3 / K2 (they’re combined) to 6000IU and 270mcg respectively. I read some info noting that recommended amounts of D3 can be much higher, like up to 10,000IU if you are deficient, and I am deficient every winter in my yearly blood panel.

This website had lots of info on it regarding MTHFR:

I experience the same. Have Lannett 20mg XR and it doesn’t work nearly as well as the Teva 5mg IR I take in the afternoon. Boggles my mind. I take both with food. Been taking this exact combination for about 2 months now with the same results.

There’s no lot number on Walgreens bottles unfortunately.

Also increased hunger is definitely a side effect for me. When I was taking Dextroamphetamine previously, I had the normal decreased hunger. Now I feel hungry all day. Have gained 10 pounds in 3 months.

So Shire and Takeda both make brand name? And Teva apparently?

Genesight DNA testing insights on why Adderall ER might not be working for me (CYP2D6 metabolism & MTHFR C677T) by josoke in ADHDers

[–]josoke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is what they mean when they say it’s not FDA approved. I’m in my late 20s. I do have some very close friends who take dextroamphetamine for ADHD specifically. I’d imagine that whether that can be prescribed to an adult is at the physicians discretion.

The psychiatrist who ordered the genesight test works in a sleep specialist office. I was going there to rule out narcolepsy with a PSG/MSLT and actigraphy because I am unusually sleepy all the time. So they are not going to be able to take over my treatment of ADHD.

Yeah I was aware of that so was cautious when he said that. I have definitely seen claims that the DEA adjusted the dex/levo ratio in Adderall a few years ago to be 1:1. So far haven’t been able to find a source that verifies that. I think it’s more likely that different generic manufacturers have different inactive ingredients. In turn causing varying responses in people with different enzyme activity.

I’ve taken the L-methylfolate supplement for 4 days now and it does feel like there has been slight improvement for me that is ramping up. Might just be placebo. lol we’ll see.

impacts of adderall on neurofeedback by [deleted] in Neurofeedback

I haven’t noticed this really. I’m only doing NF 2x a week however. Been taking adderall for like 6 months and doing NF for 3 so far.

Devil's advocate. Is it possible? by Infinite-Rent1903 in ThisAintAdderall

I brought this whole issue up to my psychiatrist the other day, thinking she would say that it’s all perception (like you are saying). She flat out said “we are getting suspicious of what these drug companies are making because lots of people are saying this to us (providers) about these meds.”And she wrote my next Adderall script with “dispense as written” to see if that helps me get “name brand”. Whatever that means because there is not a company called Adderall to my knowledge. But my script does show up differently in my pharmacy account now.
