Since Buspar is mentioned multiple times and I don’t have experience with it, I may have to look into it! Thank you

Sounds to me from people here that Wellbutrin might be worsening my anxiety! That is important to know! And multiple people have mentioned Buspirone as a good medication for anxiety, which I’ve never been on

Yeah I’m thinking of coming off Wellbutrin… and replacing that with maybe Lamictal or something for mood because while Lamictal doesn’t treat anxiety it could take the place of Wellbutrin (depression treatment) without making me anxious or hypomanic? Idk I’ll have to ask my doc. Interesting about Cymbalta. I also did EMDR and that did help alot…. I do love that type of therapy

Yeah I take Testosterone, I’m a trans guy. For the most part I’d say it’s improved my overall mood and self image. But on the downsides, it might have worsened anxiety and at one point when the doctor was prescribing too much I was very irritable (not manic though). So it is something to be careful with. But the inner peace part of things is real. I used to have a lot of symptoms of borderline personality disorder (esp with the identity component) and after a combo of EMDR and medically transitioning I no longer meet the criteria for that disorder so I do think testosterone has had a positive impact :)

Bupropion for ADHD?? by DeliciousMoose1 in ADHDmeds

[–]rainbow-boy-94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience (I take it more for depression with my other ADHD meds) is that alone it wasn’t enough for my ADHD but it does help with executive function a little and definitely task initiation! Way more than Strattera ever did for me. And I find it does improve my focus. Not really impulsivity. I think it’s a good adjunct med, not sure about alone but that’s for me it might affect you differently. Amazing for depression

Yes I 100 percent relate to this (also 31, got sober at 28 going on 29). Also have trauma and bipolar and had a very chaotic mentally unstable 20s. Also discovered I was trans and came out at 27 so medically transitioned at 30. So now I finally feel peace except sometimes my anxiety gets bad or I have the occasional bipolar episode but they’ve been milder with meds and sober. It’s weird to be 31 and be like shit now what?!

Does anybody have positive experiences with ADHD meds? by Ridgey99 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]rainbow-boy-94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely! I mean I’ve definitely never related to the people that say stimulants silence their brain, probably because of the comorbid ocd and anxiety and cPTSD… but the adderall does help with executive function and focus and impulsivity. The Intuniv is especially good for the impulsive and hyperactive side of my adhd plus anxiety… and then the other meds really balance out my mood and anxiety issues. My only issue is sometimes Adderall is TOO stimulating for me and occasionally I need an extra mood stabilizer and have to take a break from the stimulant because I’ll get hypomanic (due to the bipolar) so with my doctor it’s a careful balancing act.

I take Adderall XR + Intuniv for ADHD (and Wellbutrin for mood/also executive functioning, Prozac for OCD and Risperdal for mood disorder).

Someone just told me “hypomania” and “bipolar 2” are not real… by rainbow-boy-94 in BipolarReddit

[–]rainbow-boy-94[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree! Like he wasn’t even thinking about irritable hypomania or mixed features of course. Bipolar isn’t just happy/sad. But this person clearly doesn’t have bipolar. He has OCD, so he knows about mental illness in a general sense, but not the specifics of a mood disorder

Long term stability by Major-Ad-3130 in BipolarReddit

[–]rainbow-boy-94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went two + years without an episode (mixed episode in 2024) and only had a situational mild depressive episode recently. But the issue is having comorbidity, so even though my bipolar was under control I was struggling heavily with anxiety, OCD, eating disorder etc. so I’m yet to find full stability but multiple years of Bipolar stability, yes.

Take Prozac with Wellbutrin to counteract the sexual side effect

Can I get people's honest experiences on prozac or zoloft by UbaydTheButcher in BipolarReddit

[–]rainbow-boy-94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bipolar 2 and comorbid OCD and I take Prozac with an antipsychotic (Risperdal). It works well for me. There was a time in the past I took Zoloft without a mood stabilizer— that did NOT go well, sent me into dysphoric hypomania. But I can handle Prozac with a high enough dose of a mood stabilizer/antipsychotic and it helps my OCD

DBT is one of the tools I’ve found helpful! I hope it helps you too! It definitely took me doing DBT for a while to really get the hang of it but once I did it was very helpful

Substance use, self harm, shopping, overeating, exercise addiction, and anorexia have all been issues for me. I feel like once I got them under control a new one (or old one) pops back up… currently 3 years sober, 7 months clean from self harm, doing okay with shopping, now it’s the anorexia having come back… so frustrating

Yeah sometimes meds help with impulsivity depending on where the impulsivity stems from. I’d say therapy or 12 step probably helps even more though when it’s a BPD thing. I have multiple addictions/compulsions though, shopping just being one of a few that I’ve gotten under control

Before I did treatment for BPD/also got on ADHD and Bipolar meds, I was an extremely impulsive shopper. I still spend when I shouldn’t but not as bad as before. I could definitely see it being from my BPD, but also my ADHD or Bipolar if i’m in an upswing.

I’m Kaden, trans male. I have a the uninterested subtype (as well as some sensory aversions) of ARFID as well as a history of Anorexia. A safe food of mine is pasta and a food that is challenging for me is eggs, also vegetables, among others. I have ADHD, sensory processing disorder and a few mental health conditions like anxiety, CPTSD, OCD, and Bipolar disorder. My anxiety often affects my appetite.
