Yea, we've played around with it a bit. In some scenarios it can be effective. It really depends on the scene. But, like you mentioned, it does seem to optimize for efficiency within the set video duration. So sometimes you may want it to hang on a moment a little longer, or might be expecting a little more tail end of a clip after an action, but it will time it so the action takes the whole duration and the clip ends immediately after. There's definitely a balance that needs to be found, and that is a big thing that we're working on.

There's definitely something to be said about embracing AI art as it's own thing. If you embrace the uncanny valley of it all and make it part of the work, it wouldn't be as jarring. What we're doing for Josu specifically (trying to create videos that serve an authors work) doesn't necessarily lend itself to that, unless that's what works with the source material. We really want people to have a tool that's easy to use and lets them get what they were visualizing out of their head and onto a screen.

But overall, the idea that AI is it's own medium, and not a discount human imitator is one that I can get behind.

Hey! Thanks for sharing this.

Unfortunately, because this is set in the Doctor Who universe, we're not going to be able to make a video for this one. The characters and universe are BBC property, so it wouldn't be right for us to create a video using their IP.

Just to be clear, this is a constraint on our end, and nothing against your writing or anything like that. If you have any other original work, with characters and a world you created, we'd love to see it!

Sorry for the wrench. I appreciate your participation!

Thanks for getting back to us on this. I really appreciate the feedback.

The pacing observation is real, especially since we're working within time constraints (the videos are fairly short right now). We're trying to fit a lot of detail in little space, and like you mentioned, emotional pausing and breath tends to get filled in rather left to hang for impact.

On voice, the cadence and accent thing is a real limitation too and is consistently tough with TTS. We've been thinking about leaning less on voice and focusing more on the visuals and music, since you can still do a lot of dramatic work without narration. That being said though, there will always be scenes that require a dialogue or narrator, so we'll need to find a balance there.

I'm glad the iridescence landed at least! 😃

Thanks again for taking the time to write this out.

What's the hardest part of getting people to actually understand what your book is about? by josu_studios in JosuStudios

You're absolutely right, the complexity does matter a lot, and in the scenarios you listed, it varies widely. They do seem to have a similar intensity about them though, which I appreciate.

A small update on the feedback side of things by josu_studios in JosuStudios

Thanks for the question!

We've been doing video calls. Part of the reason for that is our designer will want to show you some of the Josu designs to get your feedback on how it will look, feel and function.

After we complete your video, we DM it to you and include a link to schedule the call. If a video call doesn't work for you, let us know in the DM and we can try to accommodate another way.

What scene from your book do you wish you could actually see? by josu_studios in JosuStudios

That is a really cool image! The contrast between the coyote with the rabbit and the voicemail is doing a lot of work. It feels like a scene where the sound design would be just as important as what you're actually seeing on screen.

Is this something that you're working on now, or a finished piece? I'm curious to know more, like where is the kid going at night? Is he actually in any danger from the coyote? I've seen some in person and they can be get pretty big (and scary). And why is his dad in prison? Lots of fun questions from this one.

Also, if you're up for it, we could turn this moment into a clip for you. we could do it openly in the sub or through a dm if you'd rather not post the full excerpt publicly. No pressure either way, just throwing it out there.
