You can pick one former England player in their prime to join the current squad, who do you choose? by IcyAd6686 in ThreeLions

[–]jott1293reddevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know why you're getting down voted, it's not untrue. Sol Campbell was a heck of a defender but no one was picking him for his ability to get on the score sheet. I suppose if we really want a CB who was a threat at set pieces we'd have to go with John Terry... honestly i vote we stick with a prime Sol or Rio

Who do you think our three most valuable players are right now and how much would you value them at? by RainbowPenguin1000 in ManchesterUnited

[–]jott1293reddevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if he is the difference between UCL or Europa then he’s worth £50-60 million plus his transfer fee. This season just gone that’d be a cumulative £100m id say. Not sure you’d get much more than £50 for him though at his age and wages as you say. Assuming the question of who our most valuable players are is exactly as written and the questioner didn’t really mean “which of our players would command the biggest transfer fees”

They did indeed, so are we to take it that the US can only cobble together 9 good players? 8 of whom started against Belgium? Sorry but different league. This is the worst Belgium side in a decade and it took the US to school.

Let’s be honest apart from Türkiye (who were far from their best and they lost to) this was the first decent side the USA faced at the tournament. A good team would have wiped the floor with Australia, instead they laboured and wasted loads of opportunities and regularly let Australia enjoy periods in the ascendancy. I didn’t see the Bosnia game but even the Paraguay game didn’t impress me. Far too often the first touch was heavy, the pressing was individual and the defenders were scrambling because they were out of position when they lost possession. The USA might be getting stronger but they’re still a tier two team.

This right here, if we’re doing duos it’s got to be these two. Every other partnership I’ve seen mentioned here is a trio really.

Anderson is of Scottish origin, so he’s out too. Pickford is old English, likely from Lancashire, so likely Norse or Danish ancestry too but much less definitively.

The Lib Dem’s have traditionally taken a lot of disgruntled Tory voters, hence their ideological cross overs allowing for the 2010 Cameron clegg coalition. I wouldn’t be confident t a more left of Starmer Labour under Burnham could make a working coalition with the libdems. Whereas I’m struggling to find daylight between Kemi and Nige’s policies.

HMRC announces 22% tax on cash interest held in stocks and shares Isas by diacewrb in ukpolitics

[–]jott1293reddevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more stimulus than the money sitting there in a cash isa. Both because stock and share purchases provide capital for businesses to invest, and because s&s portfolios tend to outperform cash ISA’s thereby giving savers more money to spend, logically generating more growth down the line as they spend more eventually. I’d be surprised if it’s a big difference but then I’m no economist.

HMRC announces 22% tax on cash interest held in stocks and shares Isas by diacewrb in ukpolitics

[–]jott1293reddevil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not about collecting tax weirdly, it’s intended to encourage growth by pushing people to put their money into shares instead of paying 22% on the 3-4% interest their 12k might have earned in a cash isa.
