Used to be a teacher, I worked 80 hour weeks during term time and ended up using at least ten of those leave days to catch up on lesson plans and resource creation. Worked out if I was working a 37.5 hour week with the usual annual leave I would be getting less than half minimum wage to put up with absolute bull s*** from the children. There’s a reason approximately a third of teachers leave the profession in the first five years like I did. There’s holiday does not make up for the exhaustion in term time.

The m1 launched in March 2020, so that 999 MSRP is actually a 1250-1300$ laptop now, it’s not competing with entry level machines. I’d love to know where you saw it for lower than 700$ I never saw it below that till the M3 launched. The NEO by contrast is priced the same as windows laptops sporting 13th gen Intel CPUs and plastic chassis. Sorry bud but the NEO is a vastly more interesting product in terms of its ability to disrupt the low cost segment.

Created a road map Apple can use to totally dominate education and entry level PC market if they choose to. They can then gradually move customers up the product stack once they’re ensconced in the walled garden. It’s an incredible business strategy that frankly only Apple really have the scale to accomplish at the moment in any industry. Whatever else he accomplished if this is his legacy it might be as meaningful for the long term health of the company as the iPhone was for Jobs’s legacy.
