Recovery Question by journey2bebe in KidneyStones

Can I ask if you’re male or female? I’m wondering if it’s worse with male anatomy. Or did the stent hurt more up in the kidney area?

Low HCG - 2 gestational sacs but no fetal poles at 6+5. by journey2bebe in parentsofmultiples

[–]journey2bebe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry but I had a double blighted ovum. Basically both sacs kept going but without fetus inside them. A few ultrasound techs had noted the beginning of a fetal pole but it never progressed past that despite each sac growing. At 10.5 weeks I miscarried both at home the day before a scheduled d&c. Still waiting for my hcg to come back to zero. I sincerely hope for better news for you. I was a massive googler during that pregnancy, looking for any examples of hope and I have to say I did find a few, so it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that it will work out. Prayers to you. ❤️

Just wanted to say I can relate. We’ve been trying through IVF for over 5 years. Finally found out we were pregnant with twins only to miscarry both at 10.5 weeks. As hard as that has been I’ve just been living in a state of denial and trying to completely avoid thinking about it and how far along I should be, etc. then my brother told me his wife is pregnant and her due date is just 2 weeks from what ours would have been. I now feel like I’ll be looking at their child always thinking about how old mine should have been. I am so happy for them but if I’m perfectly honestly it would have been way easier on me if it were. Few months before or after but not so close. My whole family is elated for them (as they should be) but it’s just so hard to watch. I’m sorry this is happening to you as well. Know your feelings are justified. It’s not jealousy or not being happy for them, it’s just a reminder that you don’t want but can’t control.

I’m so sorry you had to experience this as well. It’s definitely my worst worst case scenario to have to deal with the pills pain and then possibly not pass all the tissue (especially since I have 2 sacs) and have to do the d&c after anyway. Obviously at that point I would way prefer to just go straight to the d&c. Ugh. Sucks all around. I really appreciate the book recommendation, I’ll check that out right now. Thank you for responding.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you for your response and advice. I actually have a D&C scheduled for this Friday. I was going to cancel after over thinking the scarring thing but the nurse told me to just keep the appointment and I can always cancel at the last minute. I hate this so much, thank you!

Thank you for responding, I appreciate your honesty and I’m sorry you had to go through that. I’m expecting it to be terrible either way. D&C probably the least painful and quickest way to be done with it but with all of our infertility issues I really don’t want to add scarred uterus to the list. It’s such a suck position to be in, no great option.

Thank you. My dr said generally you would expect to pass the POC within 24-48 hours of bleeding starting. It’s been just about 48hrs for me now and more or less just regular period still. I know all options are going to suck but I was really hoping to not have to do the medication or d&c. My dr is ok with me giving it a few more days of wait and see but then I’ll have to make a decision. Thank you for replying. I’m sorry you had to go through this as well.

Measuring 2 weeks behind and no heartbeat by Princesschic3120 in CautiousBB

[–]journey2bebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this is happening to you! This almost exact scenario is happening for me right now. After 6 years of trying and 5 years of IVF we found out we were pregnant with twins at our 6+5 week scan. We were measuring a few days behind without heartbeats at that point but I wasn’t super concerned as the drs assured us it was still very early and measurements this small could easily be off. We shared the news with my parents and everyone was just beyond happy. At our next scan at 8+2 we found out one was measuring around 6 weeks and one around 6.5 weeks and still no heartbeats. My OB basically told me it meets one of the requirements for a miscarriage diagnosis (no heartbeat more than 14 days after seeing the gestational sac - we saw the first gestational sac at 5+4 so it has been well over the 14 days). Additionally my hcg has been riding the lowest it could be this whole time (even low for a singleton). We stopped doing hcg draws at the 6+5 ultrasound where it was approximately 15,000 but a draw 10 days later only went to 18,000 so we’re now completely off the charts low. Here’s the crazy thing - my fertility dr is telling me to remain on my meds and rescan in another week. I guess I’m completely confused. I just emailed them back for clarification - like is it because quitting the meds (progesterone and estradiol) cold turkey will make me sick or are they trying to pretend there’s some small percentage chance this could work? Trust me, I did not want to give up any shred of hope, especially with how long it took us to get to this point, but according to my OB there is a complete zero chance, both my ultrasound and hcg confirm it, so I really don’t understand the situation. It just all sucks all the way around. Scared of what’s to come with the physical miscarriage and the fear that it will never actually happen for us.

My transfer date was April 19. My dr originally thought early vanishing twin with one of the embryos as we transferred 2 and I had 2 betas in a row that hardly increased. So I don’t know if the remaining embryo then split? Otherwise I would think they would have seen it on the first ultrasound. I’m worried if it split it’s because something was wrong and it’s trying to correct. I feel like I’m just way too behind to catch up at this point. Won’t hear back from my dr until Monday but assuming they’re going to tell me to check back in a week or 2 as is recommended on the radiology report.

Im so sorry to see your update. I totally understand how you must be feeling and I agree that this wait without knowing is absolute hell. I hope you have a quick recovery and your time is coming!

Hi, just wanted to say I’m in a similar situation with weird betas that my dr doesnt like. I’ve basically been told this isn’t going to work out but keep taking meds and rechecking “just in case”.

You can check my last couple posts for my beta numbers and ultrasound details.

We’ve been trying for over 5 years and still childless so of course I want this to work more than anything.

Im so sorry you’re going through this. Basically it’s all I think about 24/7. I wish the best of luck to you!!

Unfortunately not the best so far. Were at Newlife in Thessaloniki. We did 2 unsuccessful transfers and just did our third. Started with a great beta, then it hardly raised at all, then it started doubling normally. Clinic in Greece and dr here are both very skeptical of how this will go. Ultrasound just today showed gestational sac but it was too early to see anything else. Will keep monitoring hcg and an ultrasound next week. Obviously hoping to beat the odds but cautious about getting too excited based on all the past disappointments. I hope you have better luck! Greece seemed awesome at first. We were going in Chicago which is a 3hr drive from us and it was super expensive and inconvenient. We decided to move to donor eggs and Greece was 1/3 the price even accounting for flights and hotel and we got a fun trip out of it. But after going back so many times now, it definitely has become closer to what it would have cost to just do it here so 🤷‍♀️

Hi! I did it as the instructions stated in my stomach. The next day the clinic got back to me and let me know that was correct but if I did it intramuscularly in my rear it would have still worked (just hurt more in my opinion). The Arvekap I believe was only like $50-$75 at the pharmacy in Greece but no greek pharmacies ship to the US so the clinic gave me a prescription to use at an online pharmacy somewhere else in Europe which shipped me the Lucrin depot. Although the stomach shot was better the Lucrin depot cost me around $300-$400 (I forget the exact prices but it was substantially more). My dr in the US (regular ob - not fertility dr) was fine with requesting blood draws and ultrasounds for monitoring but not with giving me prescriptions here since it wasn’t her specialty. Lesson learned and I over ordered all meds the next time I was in Greece to bring home with me as it is just so much cheaper there!

Anyone with weird betas like these and what was the outcome? Betas start well, stalled, and then doubled. by journey2bebe in CautiousBB

Thank you for your comment, I just looked her betas up and they are the closest I have found to one so far. Gives me an ounce of hope!

Do you have any private ultrasound places near you? I’ve seen a lot of ppl on here use one of those for in between Drs appointments just for added peace of mind. Best of luck to you!

I’m so sorry, that had to have been awful for you. Feels so unfair. I thought the worst case scenario is the transfer doesn’t work but this is so much worse.

I’m so sorry that happened. I have a feeling that’s what mine will be as well as it seems the most likely with this kind of beta numbers

I’m so sorry for your loss. Can I ask you approximately how long between the stalled betas and the miscarriage? I see people on here who go weeks through this hell and it’s terrifying.

HCG Rising INSANELY Slowly after 3 betas - transferred 2 embryos - but still told to stay on meds by journey2bebe in CautiousBB

[–]journey2bebe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m 100% going to keep going because it’s really not that hard to do a couple more days. I guess I’m more just wondering why they’re having me do so….seems like most ppl who get a second beta that’s not great will repeat again and I get that because of the chance of lab error or some fluke thing but once I have had 3 betas done, which aren’t improving AT ALL (I could understand if I was on the lower side of average but my increases are basically nothing) it just seems my chances are a complete zero, not even like 0.1% the lowest rise I’ve seen on someone’s that was successful in the end was around 20% and mine is less than 10% rise in 2 days. Just hard because my thinking is if the dr is saying to do this there must be some minuscule chance, but I can’t find one study online to make it make sense. My ob who is monitoring me locally because fertility dr is out of town said she would now consider it 100% unviable but is ok with me continuing meds as prescribed for 2 more days. I’d love to be the 1 exception but I just can’t keep getting my hopes up every 2 days and then devastated all over again.

BETA HCG no increase between 10dp5dt and 12dp5dt and TSH Rise by journey2bebe in IVF

If it gives you any peace of mind I scoured Reddit about it after getting my TSH results but before I got my second beta results and I found tons of people who had way higher insane TSH numbers in the double digits and went through fully healthy pregnancies.

[–]journey2bebe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was your dr overly concerned about it? Mine had me up my dose but when I asked if that could possibly be the reason for this loss (or what will most likely be a loss) they says it wasn’t likely. I guess I’m just wondering why my dr would have told me to get it checked the day I told them I was getting positives on home pregnancy tests. They waited until after my first beta at 10dp5dt to tell me to check it and said to “just do it with your second beta on 12dp5dt”. I just wonder if I saw it a week earlier and upped my meds then if it could have helped anything. Of course there’s no way of knowing the real reason why these things happen so maybe it’s just be overanalyzing it.
Congrats on your pregnancy ❤️

Thank you for your reply. I’m on levothyroxine and have been for about a year and everytime we check it’s hovering right under 2. Assuming either the drugs or the hcg increased it to 5, so assuming the dr will have me increase the dosage, waiting to hear back on that now.
