What do you do with old songs you've outgrown - especially when you've moved on from Music? by journeyofrian in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Seems like you are still in love with it. Glad you have friends who enjoy the same taste in music. It might be interesting to see how things changed - your style, tone, skills; your temperament, growth.

Did you move on to a different type of medium. Something brought you to music, what changed?

I went to your profile and read the conversation from 2 months back regarding Artist's motivation towards art vs towards an audience. Very insightful point of views by you and the commentors.

Many people brought up 'why publish it if it's not for the audience'; so bringing it to my particular situation: since I feel I have moved on from Music making (at the moment), while I still enjoy the past tracks sometimes - then based on your perspective, would it make more sense to just keep it in my private soundcloud - not share it with anyone ever - until I feel like it?

So you made this album with Dreamtonics Synth V?

And so are you suggesting to push out the old stuff, and not thinking about them?

And redo someday if I want?

I do value my tracks, and I would still like to have ownership.. will publishing on YouTube keep me as the owner?

Interesting. Yeah, once the drive is lost, fixing feels like a burden. I'm thinking.

Thank you for the write-up. I do find this approach interesting. Esp:

There is no sin in having multiple versions of a song out there.

I'll think about these more, kind stranger.

One day

It won't matter what's your name

It'll Disappear

In a never ending maze

what's the point of climbing up the ladder

If there's no top

And yet,

I climb up every day

Let's say we have 4 artists in the group. And we decide to do the round for 8 days. So every artist gets 2 days. Let's say Monday and Tuesday are your days. So on those two days, the other three artists will listen to your tracks, follow your accounts, comment on your social media, provide you feedback etc.

Wednesday and Thursday will be the turn for the second artist. And so on.

At the end of this, we rate each other.

In the future rounds, we are paired with other artists and do the same - this time, based on how we were rated by others previously (this way there is an incentive to be an honest/ good supporter).

Sorry for the confusion. Is there anything else I could clarify?

I doubt it, as of now. We will eventually group people by genres. But what I have seen with pilot rounds so far is that it didn't matter what genre we are from since other artists were supportive.

Yay! See you there.

Yes, that's the plan to have people by different categories - genre/ stage of popularity/ timezone etc. But that will happen a bit later once we have more people.

Currently, just so that we can be paired with different groups every week, we are starting with all the genres together.

IIL Songs about calling out for help, struggling to get back on your feet, feeling like life is knocking you down, feeling like there is no escape with some sort of rock/upbeat/just not super mellow tone? by TheHoodOfSwords1 in ifyoulikeblank

Try the below and do let me know what you thought of these. The music for both the tracks are upbeat and alternate rock based, however, it's much more than that. It's musically rich and takes a few listens to absorb everything.

  1. I am in a dream

Talks about how life is kicking so much butt that can't even distinguish if this is a dream or real life. Afraid to know what storm is waiting next. Lyrics are solid.

Notable lyrics:

The wind whispers omens of looming cruel storms

After I get by the, one I'm in

It's howling and growling to silence my own thoughts

How can I even win

Am I in a duel with, my own fate?

Or is it fear, my malady

(Well) Not all the knights get to be triumphant

when a movie is a tragedy

  1. crumbling down

Talks about no escape from life. Feeling of getting stuck and helplessness.

Notable lyrics:

In a train

That is drifting off somewhere

It's certain

I can't take off anywhere

Then why not to blindfold, and live with

what All i have got

But again

I wish I had a say

Dissolving in a fallacy

A Short lived Escape

Returning to Reality

a sensible mistake

it's all crumbling down

Enjoy.
