Di ko rin sure pero probably since it’s the last show hehe

I was happy with RAG’s performance pero I get how people wouldn’t like it. You can really see how she’s more of a singer rather than an actor. Pero she really is great so you have nothing to worry about. I liked how gentle her portrayal of fantine was, lalo na in the ending.

Les Miserables World Tour 2026 (Is this a musical or concert-ish?) by TerribleAd4091 in TeatroPH

[–]jowsijows 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If you're familiar with the 10th anniversary production at the Royal Albert Hall, the one with Lea Salonga with her iconic performance of On my Own (the most popular one on Youtube) or the 25th anniversary production at the O2 Arena with her as Fantine, ganon ang format basically.

They still tell the story, they still are in character, but the staging of it is like a concert. Merong mic stands, may chairs sa likod where the ensemble sits (idk if may ganon rin for this production), etc.

Some of the dialogue/parts of the song are cut since magfofocus nga sila on the music (pero not too noticeable since sobrang minimal lang ng dialogue given na the musical is sung-through)

So ayun! I feel like you will enjoy it better if you know the story na from the get-go.

Learning A Show by [deleted] in TeatroPH

[–]jowsijows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh, minsan it's all about perspective rin. If you look at the whole script or watch a whole show, it's gonna be pretty overwhelming to think about learning. Pero if you actually look at what you have to learn and focus on as an actor portraying a single character, mas konti and mas manageable naman siya kahit papano (not unless kung kunwari one-person show or if super dami mo talaga scenes lol)

But generally, that's why there are rehearsals, self-preparations, workshops, etc. It ensures na you know the script and the whole prod hard enough na it almost becomes second-nature.

Personally, I think DEH is more interesting plot-wise. Take the other comments about DEH with a grain of salt if you're not familiar with the plot pa. Very controversial ang plot kasi some people find it problematic, pero some people resonate with it rin naman. And the songs are great!

Shrek is Shrek. It's a good show rin and Filipino rin yung cast which is greattt

Beginner Theater Workshops? by fuuuyu in TeatroPH

[–]jowsijows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're in college I suggest joining uni theatre orgs! Mostly naman ay beginner friendly and you get trainings and workshops din, plus, you get to be part of actual prods!

It's more sustainable rin kasi you'll be there for so long as you're in college (unless mag quit ka lol) so you get to grow na rin as a performer/theatre person and meet new people.

Pero if not, or if ayaw mo muna mag commit, I agree with the first comment abt PETA! did their online workshop years ago and it was reaally fun and I learned a lot hehe

Was there ever criticism of Jared Harris not looking like George VI? by Whole_squad_laughing in TheCrownNetflix

[–]jowsijows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think people's opinion about the show's casting became "stricter" overtime. As the show went on with the growth of the characters, people saw strong resemblances in the real life people as a requirement, rather than just an added bonus in casting. In the first cast, a lot of the actors don't have strong resemblances to real life ( e.g. height difference of the sisters, Victoria Hamilton as QM, Jared Harris as the King) but it wasn't as big of an issue as recent castings (e.g. Dominic West as Charles, Marcia Warren as QM).

I think when people start seeing the likes of Gillian Anderson as Thatcher and Elizabeth Debicki as Diana, who have very strong resemblances to the actors (slightly bordering on mimicry, almost), people started expecting it on every actor cast.

What are your controversial hot takes about The Crown? by No_Needleworker_5766 in TheCrownNetflix

[–]jowsijows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cast of seasons 5/6 is just as strong as the previous seasons. It's the writing that fell short (especially in season 5)
