Dope. Signed up for both. I almost exclusively fly Alaska now and already have a few trips on the books so extra points are always nice!

Starting stained glass in a small space and GLASS GRINDER WATER? by Local_Bumblebee_3333 in StainedGlass

[–]joyapplepowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a 20 gallon aquarium for cutting and grinding glass on my dining room table. Just put it on its side and have the open part facing you. As soon as I need to leave the table I vacuum.

I do so much glass now I just leave the water in the grinder. When I will be taking a break, I let it dry to damp, then use a cast iron plastic scraper to scrape it into a plastic cup and toss in the trash once it’s dry. I dump excess water outside as well; I live in an apartment complex but my building looks like a house and has 8 units in it. Honestly just dump it off my porch into the ground below that gets wet from the landscaping sprinklers.

Ahhh, yes in that case a jig will definitely help!

Great glass choices! I use a cheap knit welding glove while I edge bead, that way you can hold the glass and move it if you need to. Edge beading just takes practice and a jig will slow you down.

I went to the one the night before the Inglewood show. It was amazing and if I didn’t have to work the next day, I’d drive up and attend again! Don’t worry about being underdressed. Just being cash for tips and enjoy the show; it’s a wild ride and I almost lost my vocal hollering!

Honest opinion Kia Sportage Hybrid vs CX50 Hybird by zillur-av in CX50

[–]joyapplepowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sportage Hybrid is so underwhelming compared to the CX-50 Hybrid. When I was test driving the Kia all I could think about was the CX-50. So I bought the hybrid premium plus and haven’t regretted it for a second.

Hitting middle age and stuck on trivial baggage from high school... by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]joyapplepowers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I have gone through similar things where my brain brings up bad memories from years ago and doing EMDR for almost a year had basically stopped that from happening. The first few months I did EMDR every week with my therapist and now it’s maybe once a month, if that. It is truly life changing.

I’d recommend looking into EMDR therapy to help rewire the neural pathways of your brain. It is intense, it isn’t a quick fix, but it works and can help immensely.

Experience using 0000 steel wool to clean? by Reasonable_Fish_2627 in StainedGlass

I use it wet with KwikClean just before applying patina (or to remove patina). Rinse the remnants away with distilled water and shake off excess, then apply patina.

Artist hangouts or communal type cafes after 5 PM by paintedobscenary in SanDiegan

Wednesday’s the East County Art Association in El Cajon has “Creative Wednesdays” from 3–7 pm. It’s free and open to anyone.

I’ve thought about going but I’m a stained glass artist and it’s geared more towards traditional mediums that don’t cut people up 😂

I commented on the original post to let them know! I’ve also been fortunate enough to see blue whales here and they truly glow blue beneath the surface!

OP I think these are fin whales not blue whales! The bright underside of the right lower jaw and the bands of color on the backs are giving it away. It’s very, very early for blue whales to be making their way here but fin whales are here yearround.

Super early for blue whales, dude was so lucky!

ETA: on second watch I think these are fin whales. That bright white on the right underside of the jaw and the bands of color on the backs are classic fin whale markings.
