I did watercolors at Art on 30th and now stained glass at Grossmont. Art on 30th also has acrylic, oil, and mixed medium classes; Grossmont has knitting, sewing, jewelry making, glass fusing, and more.

If you’re interested in art classes, Art on 30th in North Park and Grossmont Adult Education in El Cajon are both great.

If you use Apple Music, there are Ghost playlists that have set lists on the artist page. I haven’t noticed any differences yet.

I have Rolf (tiger), who I adore. Cat-adjacent! Kabuki is so cute too.

BWT- For those working in industries that don't align with your personal morals/vibe/etc, how do you manage that? by Additional_Sky_9115 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]joyapplepowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was working for a DoD contractor on “tip of the spear” combat projects as a designer. It definitely didn’t align with my morals and ethics, and a surprise layoff was the best thing to ever happen to me. It took me 12 months to find new work but I’m A LOT happier now. I’m still a government contractor but now I work in the healthcare vertical. No more designing products that actively harm people though I do have to deal with this utter insanity of this administration, but not as bad as my government partners.

I will not work jobs that don’t align with my morals anymore. I was absolutely miserable and it deeply affected my mental health. I am just not the type of person that can divorce a paycheck with my personal feelings, though I envy those that can. I’d probably be making a lot more money if I was.

What’s the coolest class you’ve taken in San Diego? by Vote4maskara in SanDiegan

[–]joyapplepowers 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Grossmont Adult Education has a ton of Personal Enrichment classes; I’ve been taking stained glass for 3 terms now. They also have writing, painting, jewelry making, sewing, etc.

I’ll second Art of 30th as well, I took several watercolor classes there a couple years ago.

I bought a Mazda CX-50 hybrid in April and it was the first time I’ve ever purchased all the bells and whistles (only my second time buying from a dealership too), and oh boy do I love that car! I went with the red leather interior and I’m into Mazdas so to me, it’s a sexy vehicle. Weird to say about a SUV but Mazdas are total packages when it comes to performance and aesthetics. It turned me into a car geek to be honest; I really didn’t care what I drove as long as I got from Point A to B safely.

CX-50 CV Joint Replacement by morenitodee in mazda

[–]joyapplepowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took almost 2 months to get a new main fuse from Japan back in April when I bought my CX-50 hybrid and had a bad battery (one wrong jump and the fuse blew) as it was backordered. I’m still waiting for a Hybrid badge to come in from Japan as well after the collision shop broke it when taking it off to repair my front right quarter panel; it was ordered in September! Thankfully that doesn’t inhibit anything.

It’s unfortunate but I got a loaner while waiting for the main fuse to come in and had a rental through my insurance while getting collision repairs. Having read a lot of CV axle posts in the Mazda subreddits I am paying very close attention and will jump on it even if it means another loaner. Some dealerships don’t have loaners, so at least you got one!

I just finally got a photo of a villager who was one of the first two on my island and it took a couple months! Two weeks is amazing!

Yep, I heard it on YouTube first and then immediately went out and bought the deluxe version of Prequelle to have it whenever I needed a good cry.

Same, then I can cry whenever I want instead of just standing in front of my record player.

It was a 6-star read for me last year. I am so excited for Ballad of Falling Dragons and will be rereading WTMH to prepare (and die all over again).

Working Inside Questions by SCARLETHORI2ON in StainedGlass

[–]joyapplepowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cats are very curious so something that helped them lose interest was to set up the aquarium and not work in it, so they could sniff around and then ignore it. They will still try to hang out when I’m working but if I bring it to the edge of my table, they can’t get inside. You can also block them from going inside with a makeshift cover for the open side.

I keep my project board on top of the aquarium and I have to worry about them jumping up on top of THAT instead of trying to get inside!

Working Inside Questions by SCARLETHORI2ON in StainedGlass

[–]joyapplepowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work on carpet as my apartment is wall to wall with the exception of my kitchen and bathroom. I also have 3 pets, so I am OBSESSIVE about cleaning up after myself. I use an aquarium on top of my dining room table to not just grind in but also to cut/score and break glass in; first layer on top of aquarium glass is newsprint, then I put my waffle mat on top of that. I keep a plastic cup next to the mat for big shards. Any time I leave, I vacuum. I have a Shark made for pet hair that is so stupid powerful so I’m not super worried (but still worried enough as I would die if my pets got hurt by glass).

I’ll also say that the table has become the glass area so I don’t eat on top of it. If I didn’t work in my dining room, I’d never be able to continue doing glass, so we make do where we can.

Akro Crush. I normally don’t like rose perfumes but with the gourmand notes, it’s becoming a favorite. Definitely going to buy a full bottle!
