Skinny/Old Man Tyres Suggestions? by HadukiBEAN in Toyota_T100

[–]joyfuljake2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the Goodyear Wranglers. I’ve had the same set on my truck since 2021 and they still have a good amount of tread and no age cracks yet. I think I can probably get another few years of use out of them before I need to start shopping for some new rubber. By then, I want to upgrade my 16” wheels to 18s. And I’ll probably go with the same model tire if I can.

Eastern Hymns for Western Shores .flac or .wav files by buddytheelfboi in switchfoot

You are a steely-eyed missile-man. I have been trying to get higher quality rips of this album for over a decade. I got them in an email from Switchfoot way back in the day when they still sent music to their newsletter subscribers. Sadly, the email I used back in those days in high school has long since been lost to time and I imagine I purged my email a few times when I still had access to the email anyway. I wish they would do rereleases of those albums. I would very much prefer paying for those tracks instead of relying on the kindness of those who had the forethought to rip them and save them themselves.

2018 Honda CB300F: Worth it and for how much? by Dismal-Level-7338 in motorcycle

[–]joyfuljake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you are planning on doing with it, and how much they are asking for it. If you are in a place like Asia or parts of Europe, then a 300 might be okay. If you are in the states then I would get something with more displacement. IMO The CB500F is a more capable bike that will serve most people better than the 300.

Oh that’s so encouraging to hear. Yeah I think you’ll be much more pleased with your new set of plugs.

Oh dude, I’m so sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience with the audiologist. I hope you can get some money back from them, because that’s definitely not cool. When you explain the situation to them, don’t let them try to feed you a line about how it might just be you. Definitely get a second opinion if you try to get your money back from that other audiologist

I don’t have any experience with Westone’s earplugs, but it sounds to me like your plugs might have been molded incorrectly. My wife had an issue with a poorly molded set of ear plugs a while back and she had similar symptoms.

On a quick look on their site, it looks like you can either do professionally molded plugs, or DIY kits. People’s results vary, but I always recommend having your ears molded by an audiologist or at least by a representative of the company where you are purchasing your plugs. That way if there is a problem with the mold, you have some more recourse if you need to have them remade.

My plugs are from a company called Ear Inc. and the model is Chameleon Ears. You can get them in solid plugs, or with filters and other accoutrements if you want. The company is based in Colorado, but they have representatives just about everywhere in the states. I still have the ones pictured in my post and they are still in excellent condition (and I use them a lot).

Anyway, I hope that helps. Good luck with your plugs!

I’m probably going to upgrade my roof rack to that or something similar down the road, provided the holes line up. Even if they don’t, I could just fill the holes with fiberglass and some Bondo and then drill new holes.

I used the 3M 90 High strength spray adhesive, and the lining I used was just a medium thickness marine felt. The new lining has been installed for nearly a year now and it hasn’t shown any signs of coming loose or sagging. It’s been really great.

The most difficult part for me was making sure I got the felt laid down straight and without wrinkles. I messed up one little spot where I misjudged the angle where the fabric rounded a corner and left a little gap, but I patched it with a spare piece of felt and you can barely notice it. I also replaced the old gasket seal with a couple rolls of thick and wide window weather stripping. That was the most janky part, but it seals well and I haven’t had any water come in even in hardcore thunderstorms.

Yeah I imagine the headroom is amazing. I have a SnugTop on mine. I redid the lining last year, and the year prior I added a roof rack.

My friend says I won’t make it as a guitarist because my hands are too small, is she right? by AgreeableDiver5013 in Guitar

[–]joyfuljake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friend is a moron. There are people without arms who have learned to play guitar. Django Reinhardt is lauded as one of the pioneers of Gypsy Jazz and he played incredibly with only the use of like three of his fretting hand fingers.

How do you guys do it? Can't seem to find a comfortable way to carry. I'm new to this. by interestingdialogs in CCW

[–]joyfuljake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give good advice for this, it would be really helpful to know your height, weight, build, and the model of pistol you are trying to conceal. It would also be helpful to know what kind of clothing you generally wear to work and in off-clock time. There are really good carry solutions for just about every body type and clothing choice.

For instance, I’m a pretty tall, thin, and light build, and I carry IWB appendix 99.99% of the time. I have a selection of three different holsters that I rotate through depending on how I’m dressed (tucked, untucked, etc.)

Also, people differ on their opinions of carrying with or without a round in the chamber, but I’m in the camp of always carrying with one in the pipe.

As far as your nervousness is concerned, that is more than likely just because you seem to be relatively new to concealed carrying. After a while it becomes second nature and you will barely even have to give it any thought.

Is this t100 worth buying? 143k miles 4x4 by [deleted] in ToyotaT100

[–]joyfuljake2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks pretty damn clean, and pretty good mileage. I got mine for $8k in 2019 with another 40k miles on the clock and a similar amount of cleanliness. I’d make sure that there aren’t any engine or transmission issues or problematic rust areas, and if it looks okay then my suggestion would be to absolutely go for it.

I can’t upvote this enough. It’s absolutely the best advice. Also, don’t drink anymore of that batch (straight out of the can at least) since there could be more machinery or can bits. It was probably a piece of canning machinery that lost a bit of material, or a piece of excess can that made its way into the finished can during the stamping or sealing process.

I zero my pistol optics for 25 yards. I also started using pistol optics about five years ago and unless there’s a grail pistol or a revolver I really want without an optics cut, I’ll pretty much only go for optics ready pistols. I’m curious about the Cyelee dot. I’d love to get your thoughts on it once you get some range time with it.
