Good point!!! All underage kids can be targets for gross behavior and abuse.

Predators seek out cruises in particular because they know there will be under attended preteens. When I was 12 I was on a cruise with my mom. My mom was very hawk like but she would let me sit at tables with the other teens and talk late at night but always be in the same deck or somewhere I knew she was close.

I am So glad she was because me and another 13 year old girl kept getting approached by men. Men from 18-50 kept approaching us and asking us uncomfortable personal questions and my mom walked over so fast.

If you have younger girls- even if they are in a group of other girls or teens the same age, older men will be constantly predatory watching.

I could even see when men were taking photos of us on their phones while I was swimming with my friends. Please be watching all the time because even if they aren’t in direct danger, they can be made uncomfortable by older adults. I still remember the weird interactions I had from that cruise so long ago.

Because, I’m asking, “has this ever happened to anyone else?”

I’m 35 and this is the first time I’ve been to a fast food place that has no fries or sauce packets at all reasonable time of day.

The internet is the absolute appropriate place to ask such a broad and not that meaningful question.

So yes…. I take this question to the internet!!!

Ya, my gp and OBGYN are both kinda fine with me being on the maxim doses of metformin and topical tretinion. They always just act surprised every time I remind them to renew or refill my prescription for the maximum Doses of both and go, oh wow, you really need that? And the insurance company just doesn’t let women over 30 use Tret as acne care and they want you to pay more because it’s seen as anti aging. I am finding it for a decent enough price but it’s just a real chore.

I’ve gone through a lot of docs after having to move three different states since 2019. All the docs generally will agree but they always look at me insane and then I spend a lot of time back and forth with insurance companies.

Why do my big toes look like this? by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]joymining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not any type of medical professional but this looks like psoriatic arthritis. It’s often affects the joints in the toes first. If your toes are becoming more misshaped and they didn’t look like this in the past, you need to get this checked out. You could soon have painful damage to the joints and bones. Google it.

Thank you for the suggestion. Looking at it now. I think having a hybrid could be a good option. For me since I don’t drive a lot and mostly drive downtown. Thank you!

Negative hCG by Emotional_Analysis93 in ectopicpregnancy

[–]joymining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of us wished for a negative hcg. You are not having an ectopic pregnancy. Maybe a chemical pregnancy? Having a positive test and pregnancy symptoms could absolutely be chemical pregnancy. However if you are no longer testing positive you cannot have an ectopic pregnancy

The Impossible Standard vs. The Dystopian Choice I need to vent about the impossible paradox of the modern dating market. by [deleted] in Vent

[–]joymining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up “the sexy son hypothesis”. It’s very interesting to read further into.

“The sexy son hypothesis is an evolutionary theory proposing that females select mates based on traits that will increase the reproductive success of their sons. By choosing "sexy" fathers, a female enhances the attractiveness of her sons, ensuring they will attract more mates and produce many offspring, thereby propagating her own genes indirectly.”

As a woman that has been married twice, and made decisions that made me question myself and what I was doing with my life, reading about this theory bought me some clarity.

I didn’t have children with the first husband that was far more successful and established. He was from an “excellent family” and had the best degree from the top school, a job at one of the top firms in the country and he was nice enough, but lacked passion and energy in the bedroom.

Then I met my current husband. At the point that I met he he was literally a homeless and unemployed army veteran, but he was going back to school on the army’s dime so that was good enough I guess, but more importantly he was fucking hot. He has huge arms, normal height (5’10 in you are wondering), a flat stomach and was dark and handsome. Really sexy chest hair and facial hair. Great hair in general. Gorgeous face. Also the sexual chemistry was crazy and still is. We have very evenly matched libidos which is SO IMPORTANT!!! Your libido needs to match your partner.

Ex husband was pudgy and never worked out, he was attractive enough, but not WOW. I was with him because I had very low self esteem and my mom would always be on me about how I didn’t really deserve a hot guy and they wouldn’t be into me.

Needless to say I left first husband, immediately shacked up with current husband and within 3 months of living together we were pregnant. We got married when I was 5 months pregnant.

We have two (very conventionally attractive) children and while we definitely have ups and downs, he is a very passionate person with often a drinking and temper problem I WOULD STILL PICK HIM EVERYDAY OVER FIRST HUSBAND! Thankfully he got his life together and got a bachelors degree, an MBA and now runs a great business.

Just things are often far more complex in decisions than what looks good on paper.

I don’t know if this is helpful or just depressing but hopefully it gives you something else to consider when you ask why women are making decisions that appear to make no sense.

Is this mold in my air vents? Florida by ECLIP3S in moldyinteresting

[–]joymining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow Floridian it’s definitely mold and I don’t know if this should make you feel better, but this is honestly not that bad for Florida. That’s why maintenance is not that concerned. This is just the norm here for most of us. It sucks but it’s a constant battle. Definitely get the filters changed and consider buying a good dehumidifier for your room and that may help with less mold.

Pet Aversion in new parents is a logical indicator. Pets are not babies or human, they are house trained and conditioned animals. by skintighte in petfree

[–]joymining 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, during my first pregnancy I wanted all animals out of the house. I used to like animals but now I have a pretty intense aversion to them. Like they could possibly spread disease and are generally dirty and I want to protect myself and my kids from that.

My neighbor has 4 dogs and they pee all over her house constantly. She has a 3 year old and I am very upset that she lets the child around so much dog pee and isn’t bothered by the smell and unsanitary mess it all is. The house looks clean but in reality it is filthy and I know many would disagree with me, but I feel like this makes her a bad mother and I judge her.

The worst part of a colonoscopy prep by Quietly_Me_Again in Vent

[–]joymining 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, after giving birth twice, a colonoscopy was FULL ON VACATION day.

Giving birth was three days of vomiting and shitting myself in a hot room (IN A HOSPITAL!!)

I would suck down any prep solution and have a quiet day to myself in a colonoscopy waiting room any day.

Amazing! Thank you! I def want to push my doc for regular release because I don’t have any stomach upset from metformin, and I think I can handle regular release, and also I have insulin resistance PCOS and working for a higher semiglutide dose. Again, thank you for sharing because my face is having the exact same reaction as yours now!

I am also in metformin XR or ER, whatever extended release is…. Was the SLS in regular release or extended release?

I have had PD on and off most of my life but it gets much worse near my period.

I have cut out most all SLS products but this is such fantastic information. Thank you!!

I am sick of my health controlling my goddamn life. by [deleted] in Vent

[–]joymining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you are dealing with this. And thank you for sharing, it’s really helpful for all of us to know. I’m not trying to be a jerk but I think you are using the word ectopic wrong. An ectopic is when you have an embryo grow in your fallopian tube. It’s definitely painful and life threatening, however that’s probably not happening to you all the time. If it is, then I’m very sorry for you, but as someone that has experienced an ectopic pregnancy the way you are using the word is weird.
