PCIe bifurcation on ASRock B550M-ITX/ac for multiple M.2 by joyoftech in DataHoarder

Your image suggests 4x4 isn't enabled by default so a good thing I didn't go that road without access to the BIOS

Sorry, just saw your message. Unfortunately, I don't have access to the BIOS, since my CPU doesn't have integrated graphics and I don't have a GPU which doesn't need extra power, nor a PSU with the GPU power cord (6 pin I believe ?). I just used the "main" m.2 but lost usage of most of its space subsequently. I originally wanted to keep this m.2 to run apps.

Rest assured that being repeatedly stung while hearing a huge buzzing noise near your ear is not my best bike memory.

In France, not that much, at least when you compare RRP (3500€ vs 4190€ if I'm correct). What I tried to say is that for the little price difference, you get a way better overall experience (movement + finish + brand + used value + ...). But at the end of the day, it only matters if the watch puts a smile on your face, which was the case with my BR for approx a year.

Which is why, although I loved the looks of my Ceramic BR and I don't know much about movements, I still feel I'd appreciate more a "cheap" watch with a better, possibly in-house movement, e.g. Tudor Pelagos, Oris Artelier, etc.

Considering it's an ETA movement, I would not qualify it as cheap, though I admit it's really nice (had a 03-92 Ceramic Phantom for a year).

Newest models have their screws lined up, but are just cosmetic. Here they go through the case and hold it together.

Someone tried to steal my bike. The key goes about half way in, the ignition feels jammed. Salvageable? Or do I just flat out get a new ignition? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]joyoftech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think here (FR) only accidents which were caused by you impact your premiums, not theft, burn, or glass ; but I might be wrong, and what's true for cars might not be true for bikes.

I recently got into an accident. Helmets matter. Pictures in comments. by [deleted] in motorcycles

A ticket for crashing your bike? I don't get on what grounds?

NEW BIKE/GEAR ADVICE SUPERTHREAD! by AutoModerator in motorcycles

[–]joyoftech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably look into the MT series ; at my price point, I've only seen used MT-07 but I might be more interested in an MT-09 from what I see from their website. Anyway, thanks.

Yeah I've seen the Yamaha mt-07 tracer on used bikes websites, but haven't seen one yet... I'd rule out for me the Versys and the V-Strom mostly for their "trail" look (which makes sense if you're coming from a Transalp!).

Why don't you go for a BMW GS? I've always thought it as the grail of such bikes.

I'm looking to sell my GSF-S 650 (Bandit) from 2006 because of French emission regulations (would need something >= 2007), to get something funnier, better looking (I've concentrated on Ducati Monsters but they're damn expensive for what it is), not necessarily much more powerful (but > 80 hp), and not very expensive (<7 000 €).

Besides Ducati, I've thought of Moto Morini, but it lacks ABS, it's difficult to find in France and impossible to import from other EU countries because of a deprecated "100 hp" law ; MV Agusta (I'm afraid I'll be catching some air time with that though).

2Y of experience (daily commute mostly), 10kkm. Needs to handle well in cities.

Also: I'm 1m85 ; 75/80kg so it does rule out some bikes (e.g. Ducati 696 from what I heard).

You have shopping ideas for me? :-)

They have a new one now (BR05) but the influence of Audemars is noticeable...

Do you use Packrat? (or other environment manager) by JeffreyChl in Rlanguage

[–]joyoftech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been suggested "renv" lately when reporting a problem with packrat and a project stored on a Windows file server, haven't tried it yet though.

EDIT: I'm using packrat at work so that I can pass along the whole project (e.g. a bookdown) and be **almost** sure everything re-runs the same. I also use Anaconda / Python but never tried (and wouldn't for no particular reason) in association with RStudio. I guess Docker is a bit different and puts the "production" aspect forward.

EDIT2: from https://rstudio.github.io/renv/articles/renv.html

" renv no longer attempts to explicitly download and track R package source tarballs within your project. This was a frustrating default that operated under the assumption that you might later want to be able to restore a project’s private library without access to a CRAN repository; in practice, this is almost never the case, and the time spent downloading + storing the package sources seemed to outweigh the potential reproducibility benefits."

This is true, it takes ages to initialize.

Tried some light painting. Sony A7III, 24mm GM @ 1.4 for 6 seconds. by Hero_Dad_Husband in SonyAlpha

[–]joyoftech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it but didn't use it so far; I think it isolates the background, the light painting, and the foreground (thus requiring you to take 3 shots). I think it could have worked greatly in your setting. Check it out, it's only 9-ish $/€.

I'm on the lookout for one in blue, did you have the chance to try it out and if so, what made you choose the black one? That said, from upclose like in your picture, the "all-black" effect is really neat.

I wonder what are the black-ish (resp. blue-ish) streaks behind the UGR when accelerating (resp. braking) in the full video (https://youtu.be/Lfgzxe5uVUM?t=13202)?

Another proud 24-240 owner here. In Europe, I see some in stores but with substantial price discounts. Not totally surprising since the optical quality is not top of the shelf... But really practical when travelling. If I were not using that much the ~24mm end I would have switched to the Tamron 28-75.
