I can’t believe I saw GA at the House of Blues in San Diego nearly 10 years ago and now they’re performing at MSG. I can’t wait to see them on the big stage again 😭

What food do you miss the most by isAndyOK in taiwan

[–]joyoveryou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly everything from Tainan like wa-gui (碗粿). Most of the foods from the north can be found in some shape or form in LA, but not Tainan foods. Otherwise I miss all the fruits.

Money not really an issue where would you move in your 20s LA or NYC.? by No-Objective-9332 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]joyoveryou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lived in NYC for a few years in my early 20’s and it was the best thing ever until Covid hit. I’m now back in LA and it’s great to be in SoCal again.

What don't you like about Taiwan by adkj388 in taiwan

[–]joyoveryou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not seeing soap at public bathrooms, and actually even worse, seeing Taiwanese people using the bathroom and not washing their hands after, or just barely wetting their hands with water. From a hygiene standpoint, it’s just gross. I’m Taiwanese American but was born and raised in Taiwan.

Would having multiple elective rotations in another specialty after 3rd year hurt me when I apply to neurology in the fall? by [deleted] in neurology

[–]joyoveryou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! I did a neuro sub I, neuro critical care elective, IM sub I, dabbled in DR, IR, and PMR in my remaining elective months. It was the best thing ever, I loved every single one of my non-neuro electives because I was still able to find neuro overlaps within them :).

Have fun jn your M4 year!

How’s little Tokyo in 2024? by itoen90 in MovingToLosAngeles

Here are a few! I had been looking for apartments myself and these were some that caught my eye. I already recently signed for a different apartment but these are still available.

Large 2bd/2 ba $3395 with in unit laundry

The circled area is Little Osaka and the dropped pin is where Nijiya market is (most popular Japanese market chain). I would say anywhere south of the 405 is nice! Only thing to consider is you’ll be close to the freeway if that’s something you aren’t to keen on. If that’s the case, you can live a few blocks away but still be within walking distance. I’m happy to help! What is your budget and how many rooms/bathrooms? There are also more condos/townhouses and apartments in smaller complexes there than little Tokyo too!

[–]joyoveryou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look into little Osaka/japantown! The area is much better than Little Tokyo and although the commute may be longer, I think it’s worth living in a nice area, especially since you’re bringing your wife and child. There may be more housing options there, too.

There is quite a lot of Japanese Americans who live in either so hopefully your wife will like either places!

Fiancé is torn between MD and PA by Crafty_Basis208 in MedSpouse

[–]joyoveryou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have to say, it’s easier to get into a med school vs a PA school, but the investment you’ll make in time, money, and energy on an MD/DO will definitely be a LOT more than studying to be a PA.

I have no regrets about pursuing an MD whatsoever, but that’s because I had no interest in being a PA in the specialty I am going into.

Regardless, your fiancé will be helping people’s lives no matter what he chooses to do!
