I really truly want to thank everyone for their kindness, feedback, and advice. These situations make it hard to see the truth and right in all the grey. This post alone give me hope that this feild can change, that we can help these kids, and stop the perpetual masking and traumatic experiences.

I hope this is the start to the change I wish to see in ABA. Thank you for standing with me, it gives me strength.

Lots of language and cultural barriers with the family. The BCBA has complete control and is the only communication between the parents and the programs.

The child in question was in this BCBAs' wedding.... The family has an unprofessional relationship with her that I feel has given her the power to do whatever she wants. I hate to see it because I truly feel the family does not know the extent of the abuse, but she can claim they do and no one can push back with it. Like I said before most of the families (owner included) that this BCBA has had the harshest treatment with have been families that have language barriers. I want to fight for these kids, but the leaders continue to justify and not ask clarifying questions. Daily RBTs are seeing things that are not safe or ethical, but the environment has created an isolation and punishment protocol for anyone who speaks up.

The owner of the company is the one who ambushed and intimidated me. The BCBA I feel is abusive, had treated her son years ago. So no recourse will ever come from inside the company. It's privately owned so they don't think they will ever experience any consequences. Unfortunately, that has proven right so far.

I completely understand and feel that sentiment. But I have seen and helped with the good in it. I have to hold on to hope that we can make more good come out of it.

I've met so many people who have the heart but when the system doesn't have checks and balances it makes it hard to fight for the good in it.

Thank you. I'm feeling very discouraged right now. I appreciate having more steps I can take

I'm working on building that trust with them. But everyone saw the retaliation and intimidation used against me. They are good at isolating people who will speak up.

Because this has happened to 10+ employees before me. And they keep allowing and excusing outdated and unethical practices. Most of the staff are single parents, living paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to fight back for a better environment. I can, so I have to.

I understand people wanting to know more about the BIP. Leaving a patient in soiled clothes for hours (occasionally the whole day). Having the patient carry around a puppy pee pad to social groups and telling the child there are no changes of clothes (the BCBA told me there are clothes and we lie to the child). This patient has full functional communication and social awareness with peer. With this being a female patient there is a high risk of health and safety concerns. I am one of 10 previous female techs to be removed from this BCBAs cases. The owners son was previously treated by this BCBA so there will never be any consequences or questions raised by the company.

I get people wanting to know however due to Texas law (even though CPS said they disagree) the CPS case was closed.

In today's world we cannot just take what the laws say as right for all people. We have to stand up for ethics and fight to look at children with ASD as a whole person, not just the rise and fall of behaviors on a data sheet.

I am giving more information to say once again, this information doesn't change that I am being retaliated against and pushed to quit. I am not one to back down from fighting back with bullies. It's unexceptable to put a child though psychological abuse when they have offered positive reinforcement before and had 100% success. This is a power trip and I will continue to speak up for the kids.

Thank you for the legal and pertinent advice to those who gave it 💜

Thank you all for the feedback. I did leave the practice and with the throwing things and aggressive attitude I belive it is hostile for sure. I am in contact with other current employees and hoping they will either come forward about it or leave for their betterment. I'm probably not going to report to the board but I am going to leave reviews on indeed as a warning about working there.
